    Trauma Program Manager - Danbury, United States - Danbury Health Systems

    Description

    Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations - Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York - plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care.

    Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates,


    Summary:
    Works in close collaboration with the Trauma Director to develop, implement and evaluate the trauma program.

    Responsible for the administrative duty functioning of the Trauma Service, coordinating its multidisciplinary activities, integrating the participating departments, maintaining compliance with State and National requirements and tracking injuries/outcomes of injured patients.

    Works clinically with the trauma team to assess and manage the trauma patient from time of injury through rehabilitation.


    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinates management across the continuum of trauma care, which includes planning and implementation of clinical protocols and practice management guidelines, monitoring care of in-hospital patients, and serving as a resource for clinical practice.

    Assures designation by State of Connecticut and meets Joint Commission standards Compliance with regulatory organizations

    Serves on State Trauma Committee Compliance with regulatory organizations


    Criteria D:
    Participates in community organizations for trauma prevention and disaster preparedness, including hospital's Disaster Preparedness Committee.


    • Monitors clinical processes, outcomes, and system issues related to the quality of care provided. Develops quality filters, audits, and case reviews. Identifies trends and sentinel events, and helps outline remedial actions while maintaining confidentiality.

    Conducts prospective chart reviews for documentation deficiencies and provides notification for correction active.

    Oversees Performance Improvement, Patient Safety (PIPS) programs, (monthly Trauma PCE and Trauma Committee) and implements recommendations for loop closure.

    Assists and critiques major resuscitative activities for the critically injured patients.

    Plans, directs and evaluates the support activities for care of the trauma patient through pre-hospital, Emergency Department, inpatient, rehabilitation.


    • Manges, as appropriate, the operational, personnel, and financial aspects of the trauma program. Serves as a liaison to administration and represents the trauma program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal trauma care management.
    • Supervises collection, coding, scoring, and the development of processes for validation of data. Designs the registry to facilitate performance improvement activities, trend reports, and research while protecting confidentiality.

    Responsible for strengthening professional growth and development through educational programs, workshops, conferences and membership in professional organizations.

    Provides trauma related educational programs for physicians, nurses, PAs, EMS staff.

    Provides training in Injury Prevention to the community based on a needs assessment drawn from the Trauma Registry data.

    Oversees and monitors community-based Safety Prevention programs.

    Develops Trauma Program annual budget for submission to Chair of Surgery

    Actively participates in institution-wide initiatives for trauma care.


    • Leads Trauma Operations meetings in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director.
    • Maintains membership in appropriate professional organizations related to trauma and trauma care.
    • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

    Other information:

    Required:
    Bachelor's Level Degree


    Required:
    Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant licensed in Connecticut.

    If nurse, certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN), Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) and Trauma course training and mentoring in this role to acquire appropriate skills.


    Desired:
    Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, have strong organization skills and effective teaching skills.

    Must be able to work collaboratively with physicians and be able to interface across multiple specialties within the hospital, to create and implement guidelines into institutional practice.
