    We are looking to hire a Senior Buyer located in Amherst, NY.

    Qualifications:

    These skills and experiences will make you a good fit for this role:

    • Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, or similar discipline.
    • Minimum of 5 years related work experience is required; previous experience in manufacturing industry preferred.
    • CPM certification is preferred; candidate must be able/willing to achieve certification within one year of hire.
    • Certification in LEAN and/or Six Sigma is considered a plus.
    • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings.
    • A thorough understanding of contract documents and demonstrated success in contract negotiations (in terms of service and pricing).
    • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills, including active listening skills with internal and external customers; ability to collaborate with various departments to coordinate activities.
    • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, effective issue resolution, and influencing skills.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft office, especially Excel; previous experience using SAP is preferred.
    • Demonstrate initiative, take ownership of the process, and drive continual improvement.
    • Demonstrate a strategic business mindset and the ability to balance multiple stakeholder interests simultaneously.
    • Promote ethical procurement practices of contracted goods, which includes compliance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Possess the legal right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.

    Principal Responsibilities

    This is a high-level overview of the role we need you to fill for us*:**This position is responsible for seeking out suppliers, selecting merchandise, negotiating bills of sale for Watson Bowman Acme, maintaining continuity of supply, and developing reliable alternative sources of supply. This position will also review and analyze purchase requisitions, develop sources of supplies, prepare bid specifications, issue bid requests, review quotations, and coordinate direct vendor to customer shipments. A key element of this position is to manage relationships of key suppliers to include, monitoring performance metrics, resolving claims and/or disputes, gathering market intelligence and other contributing factors affecting supply availability and pricing of products procured. This position will also lead the development and negotiation of contracts with new suppliers and/or renegotiate existing contracts to accomplish savings objectives.
