    Job Description

    Job DescriptionWe are seeking a talented Senior Buyer to support a dynamic Purchasing Department at a leading company in Northern New Jersey.Summary of responsibilities:
    • Develops and implements purchasing strategies to optimize procurement processes.
    • Reviews and processes purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
    • Manages and leads the purchasing team.
    • Maintains detailed records of ordered/received goods, including delivery and inventory tracking.
    • Negotiates prices and contracts with vendors to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.
    • Builds and sustains strong relationships with vendors and suppliers. Selects vendors through research and negotiation to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
    • Evaluates vendors based on criteria like quality, timeliness, and reliability.
    • Coordinates with managers to monitor inventory and determine supply needs.
    • Ensures timely delivery of goods/services by scheduling and overseeing fulfillment.
    • Researches and evaluates vendors to secure competitive pricing and offerings.
    • Addresses issues with procured items and vendors, focusing on quality and resolution.
    • Stays informed of industry purchasing trends and best practices.
    • Travels to vendor sites as needed to maintain relationships and conduct negotiations.
    • Oversees adoption of new purchasing technologies as required.
    Qualifications:
    • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
    • Proven track record of successful vendor negotiations.
    • Proficient research and data analysis capabilities.
    • Adept at building and maintaining vendor relationships.
    • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not mandatory.
    • Minimum 7-10 years of purchasing experience in food, beverage, or CPG industries.
    Education & Experience Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, or business administration.
    • 7-10 years of progressive experience as a purchasing manager or similar role.
    • Expertise utilizing procurement software and enterprise systems.
    • Supervisory experience is preferred, though no direct reports.
    • Ability to provide leadership when director/manager is unavailable.
