Founded in 1881, Spelman College is a private four-year liberal arts college located in Atlanta, GA. The oldest historically Black college for women in the United States, Spelman is a member of the Atlanta University Center Consortium and Atlanta Regional Consortium for Higher Education.

Position Description:

The Department of Biology seeks outstanding instructors dedicated to excellence in the biological sciences for a 1.5-year lecturer position beginning August 2024. The department has a strong, proven reputation for promoting the success of women of African descent in STEM fields. The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in biology or a related area and be able to teach 16 credit hours of courses at the undergraduate level in one or more of the traditional sub-disciplinary areas of biology: Population Biology, Organismal Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology. The position also requires contributing effectively to curriculum development efforts, advising and mentoring students, and providing service to the department and College. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to working with women and underrepresented minority students through teaching, mentoring, and research are especially encouraged to apply.
