    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    The Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for managing the company accounts payable function in a professional and knowledgeable manner. This position directs and oversees the daily management of the accounts payable staff and processes associated with the payment of invoices, ensuring the accuracy of the entire process as it relates to vendor payment, processing of purchase orders, receiving, invoices and payment of invoices, and communication with vendors. This position ensures company policies and procedures are being adhered to as they pertain to accounts payable. The Accounts Payable Supervisor will play a key role in maximizing the company's use of technology for automating AP processes.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Oversee the day to day operations and supervision of the Accounts Payable Department and provide critical information to other departments on a timely basis.
    • Ensure vouchers are legitimate company transactions and are accurately recorded on a timely basis. Coordinate monthly closings of ETRM/ERP system as it relates to the accounts payable process.
    • Ensure automated AP processes are maintained for new and changing business requirements. Identify and lead the implementation of additional AP automations.
    • Effectively manage cash-flow while paying vendors according to terms. Take advantage of vendor discounts when available.
    • Develop and track relevant AP Key Performance Indicators. Identify and initiate process improvement measures as required.
    • Provide pertinent monthly accruals and insight regarding company purchases for month end analysis.
    • Coordinate with controller on external audits where accounts payable records are involved.
    • Develop staff and provide the environment for optimal performance. Ensure all staff is appropriately cross-trained on all systems.
    • Work as part of a team environment in resolving various supplier vouchering and payment issues and work with various internal departments as needed.
    • Provide excellent service by communicating clearly and professionally to customers, colleagues and management.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    • Associates degree required, Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S.) preferred from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting, Business or related field.
    • Minimum of five years experience in Accounts Payable Department with supervisory experience.
    • Ability to listen to others, express ideas both orally and in writing and provide relevant and timely information to staff, clients, managers, etc.
    • Ability to understand problems, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
    • Strong computer skills; Experience working in Windows, Internet Explorer and MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). ERP AP module experience required (Great Plains/SAP/Oracle/etc)
    • Strong attention to detail, analytical, organizational & interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to effectively lead a department through change and growth.
    • Experience in leading significant AP automation projects.
