    Job DescriptionSoulCycle is seeking an experienced Director of Software Engineering to lead its
    engineering organization.

    As the Director of Software Engineering you'll report to the Vice President of Product and Technology and be responsible for managing cross functional agile teams through our full SDLC from estimation to delivery as well as having direct report responsibility for the engineering staff.

    To be successful, you will need to collaborate with our Product Management, Design, Quality Engineering, Technical Architecture, and Systems organizations on everything from roadmap estimation to project execution and delivery.


    Responsibilities:

    Able to roll up their sleeves and play a hands on role while building and managing a world-class teamSet technical standards and SLDC processesUnderstand software delivery in a startup environment balanced with the rigor needed for sustainable and maintainable productsProvide technical and career mentoring for the engineering organizationWork with your engineering team and leads to plan and track development of all projects through delivery to productionProvide project status information to the Management Team and additional stakeholdersCoordinate estimation of operational costs associated with updated/new functionality with our systems organizationUse data and feedback from participants and peers to drive continuous optimization of cross functional team structures and software development processesCultivate a culture of testing and automation throughout the engineering organizationAssure that security and accessibility continue to be primary goals in construction of any softwareCollaborate with partner company teams to assure that we're building scalable, available, fault tolerant softwareCollaborate with the the product engineering management (Design, Product, QA and IT) team to improve visibility, processes, and communication mechanismsFull stack software development experience and capabilityExperience or comfort working with native mobile appsExperience with caching systems such a memcache and redis are a plusComfort working on the command lineExperience profiling and optimizing code on all tiers of an applicationQualificationsA successful track record working as an engineering leaderExperience leading and contributing to software architectureExperience with systems that leverage near real-time data to drive personalizedexperiences (recommendations, CRM, etc.)



    Experience working with consumer facing digital productsExperience with systems which have sophisticated access control/configurationcapabilitiesExperience building production REST APIsExperience working with PHP and NodeExceptional written and oral communication skillsExceptional critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to quicklyunderstand complex systems and dataExperience balancing managing direct reports and making contributions to thesoftwareExperience providing project visibility to senior managementPassion for data driven decision making and continuous process improvementBonus points for:
