This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Atlantic Area, National Strike Force Coordination Center, Incident Managment Assist Team, Logistics Department in Portsmouth, VA.

Duties

This position is located within the . Coast Guard Incident Management Assist Team (CG-IMAT) Logistics Department, National Strike Force (NSF), Atlantic Area (CG-LANTAREA), based in Norfolk, Virginia. The position primarily serves as an Emergency Management Specialist with primary focus as an ICS Logistics Section Chief (LSC) and an ICS Communications Unit Leader (COML) during deployments.

Being a Coast Guard (CG) civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:

Serves as LSC during deployments and activates and supervises ICS organization elements per the Incident Action Plan (IAP). Provides facilities, services, people, and material in support of the incident. Participates in the development and implementation of the IAP and supervises the branches and units within the Logistics Section.

Serves as COML, responsible for developing plans, obtaining, distributing, and supporting operation of computer and radio incident communications equipment and the data management infrastructure to support information flow.

Supports the development and implementation of the Information Management Plan elements specific to communication, responsible for providing guidance to the Planning Section Chief on incident specific communications procedures.

Serves as a facilitator for Incident Management Team (IMT) workshops, providing ICS coaching for Incident Management Team workshops and exercises to improve the readiness of supported Coast Guard units.

Designs network layouts, determines equipment and facility requirements to meet user objectives and provides capabilities to accomplish unit communications needs.
