    Description

    As a Fishing Vessel Safety Program Coordinator, this position provides operation planning direction, subject matter expertise, and regional oversight of the Fifth Coast Guard District's prevention programs related to commercial fishing vessels.

    The mission of the Prevention Division is to administer prevention programs and activities to protect the public, ports and waterways, and the environment; and to support regional and national economic interests through prevention and mitigation of maritime incidents.

    The position is responsible for assisting the Chief, Inspections and Investigations Branch in providing operation planning direction, subject matter expertise, and regional oversight of the Fifth Coast Guard District's prevention programs related to commercial fishing vessels.

    Typical work assignments include:
    Assisting in the administration of the Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety Program for the District.

    Promoting implementation programs, stressing cooperation between small boat stations, cutters, patrol boats, Coast Guard sector personnel and the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

    Developing field guidance to ensure effective and consistent standards.
    Providing periodic oversight of Marine Information for Safety and Law Enforcement data entry and case/activity management.
    Conducting performance review and measurement activities.
