    Description
    Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, L.P. is seeking a skilled individual for our *Production Engineer 5* position at our DTTP - Waller, TX location.

    The Production Engineer 5 is responsible for the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, fabrication and assembly, cost reduction initiatives, processing of engineering changes, and introduction of new products.

    Also provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, technicians and operations support staff.

    Capable of high level strategy and development of project plans, execution of capital projects and significant activities requiring a multi-functional team.

    *Utilizes proven lean manufacturing abilities to identify opportunities for cost reduction, increased quality, work flow improvements, estimating, project analysis, technology development and core manufacturing skill set.

    • Able to supervise others and providing mentoring to junior engineers, technicians and support staff
    • Supports DOE, 8D, FMEA, 6 Sigma and DFP analysis and implementation of Kaizen activities
    • Works with Design Engineers to revise, and sustain HVAC product designs, utilizing knowledge of mechanical engineering principles; provide manufacturing technical resource to Design Project teams
    • Develop and manage project schedules related to existing product launches or design modifications.
    • Document product designs by preparing bills of materials, cost analyses, drawings, and engineering change requests.
    • Assist in redesigning internal components to improve overall long term system quality, improve efficiency and reduce cost.
    • Develop engineering solutions to product related issues through problem solving and root cause analysis techniques.
    • Coordinate project work internally with the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.
    • Develop suppliers for manufacturing equipment, develop key suppliers, create an environment of continuous improvement in equipment UPTIME, EFFICIENCY & QUALITY
    • Create preventive maintenance that effectively maintains the equipment in optimal form without the need for short cutting the quality or machine capability
    • Will work with the Goodman Fabrication and Production departments & Design Engineering team to sustain residential and/or commercial HVAC-related products.
    *Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of manufacturing engineering theory, processes, and practice.

    • A minimum of 10+ years of experience with product design in assembly HVAC environment preferred, or the automotive, appliance industry
    • Experience with engineering change processes
    • Knowledge of specifications and standards used in the HVAC industry (preferred).
    • Software skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Mapics
    • Effective project management skills.
    • 12+ years manufacturing experience
    • Lean manufacturing concepts (e.g., Experience in fabrication, stamping, tooling, molding, finishing, assembly and/or controls
    • Deep skilled in at least two or more of the following areas (Molding, Finishing, Tooling, Fabrication / Stamping of aluminum and steel, Assembly processes and or Product Engineering support in a manufacturing environment)
    • Expert on core manufacturing documentation – PFMEAs, PCPs, PFDs, DFA/DFM, and all aspects of manufacturing in a high volume environment
    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Computer, Technology and/or Engineering
    • Preferred Master's in Engineering or Business Administration
