STANFORD UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF THEATER & PERFORMANCE STUDIES (TAPS).
The integration of the practical knowledge of theater-making with the humanistic knowledge of the history and theory of performance is central to our department's vision.
At TAPS, theory and practice are inextricably linked and mutually reinforcing. We prepare our students to become scholar-artists fluent in both of these languages.Position Summary:
The Department of Theater and Performance Studies is seeking a Production Manager. The Production Manager will work under the general supervision of the Director of Finance and Operations.
The Production Manager will collaborate with faculty, lecturers, visiting artists, students, and staff to produce six full productions per academic year and a number of other events in three buildings.
Additionally, the Production Manager will liaise with the larger Stanford community in regards to the use of TAPS spaces and facilities.
Core tasks include financial management, HR, scheduling, information management, and other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate must possess and demonstrate a positive outlook on continuous process improvement efforts while maintaining a team-based and customer-focused mindset.
It is critical that the person in this position exhibit sound judgment and decision-making, effective written and oral communication, strong attention to detail, and respectful relationship management.
They must also exhibit a strong desire to learn new and unfamiliar business topics, policies, and procedures as they relate to Production Management – the ability to translate this information into operational successes will be critical.
This is a 100% FTE, continuing and exempt position.This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid of working on-site and off-site), subject to operational need.

CORE DUTIES:
Serve as project manager of multiple activities; scope out project tasks/team assignments and guide team to create work plans and schedules, monitor progress, and meet milestones.
Take responsibility for the production of three Main Stage and three Developmental Series productions per academic year.
Support students in capstone projects and voluntary student organization projects, and support faculty in end-of-quarter performances and other single evening events.
Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external university partners.Act as department representative at cross‐departmental project meetings.
Operate as account manager on deliverables, program metrics, and status reports.
Work cross‐departmentally to prepare and manage complex program budgets.
Recommend and schedule events into appropriate off‐campus and on‐campus venues.
Oversee registration strategy and logistics.
May hire and oversee support staff, students, and contingent event staff.
Train and supervise junior event planners in proper execution and implementation of events.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree or five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Superior project and event management skills.
Ability to manage a diverse team of continuing and contingent staff, holding them to deadlines and the highest quality output.
Demonstrated experience with financial management of complex event budgets requiring excellent analytical skills.Extreme attention to detail and deadlines; ability to prioritize and manage complex workflows.
Excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills. Must be well-organized and detail-oriented.
Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.
Demonstrated high level of confidence in making strategic decisions, good judgment, and innovative and creative problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience in theater or related subject.
An understanding of or experience in theatrical production.
Experience in large institutions such as universities.

The expected pay range for this position is $74,000 to $117,000 per annum.
