WhatsApp drives the adoption of Meta monetization products in parts of the world where we have historically had smaller revenue opportunities.

In order to grow the Meta ecosystem, we are bringing online both first time online businesses from round the world as well as seasoned marketeers looking to grow WhatsApp as their next big channel.

The Business Products team is at the forefront of enabling businesses to run their entire operations from the WhatsApp SMB app.

We are looking for a Research Leader to support a team of researchers working across areas like the SMB app growth, Marketing Messages, GenAI and Meta Verified for WA to build a unified vision of the app and the value to businesses it can deliver.

To give you an idea of some of the big questions in this space, here are some projects our team is working on this half:


  • Redesign the WA SMB app for end to end business management for SMBs. Improve business efficiency through smart tools, marketing messages and other paid / nonpaid offerings to enhance a business' capability. Innovate on the nature and format of customer engagement that businesses of the future are likely to engage in
  • Drive equality and inclusion in the SMB sector through inclusive product designWe are keen to chat to you if you:
  • Have experience working with teams on commerce experiences enabled by GenAI
  • Get excited by supporting a team that is solving difficult and often complex problems in the privacy enabled business space
  • Have experience in working with SMBs and enterprise customers
  • Enjoy being hands on in supporting product direction and execution through strong UXR leadership while keeping abreast of future trends and industry changing shifts
  • Partner highly effectively with Data Science and Product Growth around quantified funnel conversion, experimentation and strategic and tactical improvements

UX Research Manager, WhatsApp Business Products Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage a research team that is large in size and/or complexity.
  • Enjoy being hands on in supporting product direction and execution through strong UXR leadership while keeping abreast of future trends and industry changing shifts
  • Have a point of view about strategic decisions, using insights from the team. Understand how to influence stakeholders and leaders to implement the best ideas.
  • Become a trusted, strategic partner to product stakeholders by communicating and demonstrating the value of user research, and by delivering insights that lead to demonstrable business value.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Set clear expectations and goals for individuals and the team.
  • Make staffing decisions based on business priorities, both short term and long term, as well as team strengths and motivation.
  • Identify gaps and solutions for future growth and scale within the team or organization, including system, product, function, partnership, culture and/or organization opportunities.
  • Responsible for the quality of the team, including coaching, growing IC's and managers (if applicable) and coaching underperforming team members.
  • Build a diverse and an inclusive environment across the team, model inclusive behaviors, and hold managers accountable.
  • Give clear, actionable feedback on a timely basis.
  • Partner highly effectively with Data Science and Product Growth around quantified funnel conversion, experimentation and strategic and tactical improvements

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree or significant experience conducting UX research with meaningful business impact
  • 18+ years of experience conducting and/or studying research postBachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience directly managing, coaching and developing fulltime researchers
  • Experience building and scaling successful consumer and/or ads products, with an excellent consumer product sensibility.
  • Have experience working with teams on technical issues including ads networks, ads optimization, signals collection, improving return on improvement, media marketing
  • Experience navigating and supporting teams through high ambiguity and rapid change
  • Experience directly managing across different research methodologies
  • Experience directly conducting primary research (either qualitative or quantitative) endtoend (i.e., designing, fielding, analyzing and reporting out data)
  • Experience building teams over time through hiring, growing, and retaining highperforming researchers
  • Experience building and setting research strategy that connects with business strategy
  • Track record of translating research into business impact
  • Expertise working with crossfunctional teams leading engineering, marketing, sales, and partnerships and engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with business products, business insights, and product development
  • Have experience in working with SMBs and enterprise customers
  • Quantitative or Mixed Methods research exper
