    Overview:

    In support of the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Assessments function manages a team of clinical professionals and provides oversight of the day to day activities of designated team. Ensures service provided to participants is in accordance with clinical guidelines, organizational standards, funding sources and contractual requirements, and applicable regulations. Maintains effective communication and close collaboration with the Intake and behavioral services departments, referral/funding sources, and families served; and with other internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure streamlined workflows, high quality services, timely communications, continuous improvement efforts, and achievement of department goals and productivity requirements.     Responsibilities:
    1. Supervises the day-to-day activities of assigned clinical team. Ensures coordination with the Intake and assessments administrative support departments in the assignment of assessments from new referrals requests to designated assessors team; including oversight of assessment report review and data submission activity. Assures all activities, communications, and data processes between departments and within own team are effective, follow established workflows and procedures, and are compliant with CARF, HIPPA/OSHA standards, referral/funding sources guidelines, third party payer requirements, ESSC policies, and applicable federal, state and local regulations.
    2. Manages designated clinical assessments associates. Plans, prioritizes, and validates work of team to ensure appropriate skills, workload, quality, and timeliness of deliverables. Provides work direction, clinical supervision, coaching, mentoring, guidance, and knowledge sharing to assessors and clinical assessment review associates.
    3. Assists the Director of Assessments in the review and updating of department policies and procedures. Provides input and recommendations on clinical, operative, and administrative aspects of the whole spectrum of activity within the assessment function. Assists in the implementation of improvement solutions, and in the establishment of performance standards and metrics to measure quality and productivity of the team.
    4. Establishes and maintains reports, receives and exchanges information and metrics with Intake, assessments administrative support associates, behavioral services, and leadership teams to track timelines of cases and perform various analyses, find gaps in processes, identify issues, recommend solutions and become instrumental in the implementation of corrective actions.
    5. In coordination with the Director of Assessments, ensures adequate and timely staffing of the department, personnel training/skill enhancement, and professional development opportunities for all members of the assessments team. In concert with Director, decision making related to personnel actions such as hiring, discipline, and termination of employment are evaluated and executed.
    6. Conducts performance evaluation of clinical assessment associates through the established annual performance appraisal process. Follows established procedures and adheres to applicable standards and regulations when conducting these reviews.
    7. Develops and delivers specialized training and instructional materials for own team. Partners with Training and Clinical QA teams to ensure training needs are regularly evaluated, facilitating delivery of training/education to clinical assessment associates; as well as ensuring timely implementation of quality assurance initiatives within the area of responsibility.
    8. Conducts regular meetings with direct reports and the assessment administrative support team for review, evaluation, and monitoring of clinical and administrative operations, performance, quality, compliance, grievances/issues, productivity, report submission obligations, audits, caseload, capacity needs, status of
    9. projects, among other topics. Performs 1:1 meetings with own assessment team members as needed. Reports results to Director of Assessments.
    10. Partners and collaborates with the behavioral services team to elevate performance and ensure effective operational workflow, alignment and consistency of clinical service delivery, and smooth transition of participants from one department to another. Works with pertinent internal departments to address billing, human resources, payroll, and other organizational activity.
    11. Maintains collaborative relationships with referral sources.
    12. Conducts assessments with participants as required.
    13. Serves as an escalation point with participants and their families regarding assessments/service concerns and facilitates issue resolution.
    14. Remains current regarding new research, current trends and developments in autism behavior analysis, and related fields.
    15. Performs other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications:

    EDUCATION:

    • Masters degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in psychology/early childhood education or closely related field.
    • Must possess and maintain a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
    • Must possess and maintain CPR certification.
    • Health information management working knowledge is required. Related certifications are preferred.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • 5+ years experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), and /or other related developmental disabilities, in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
    • 3 years of related supervisory or managerial experience managing certified/clinical staff is required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

    • Expertise in approaches to intervention and assessment based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis; competent in employing and directing behavior analytic methodologies.
    • Must demonstrate knowledge and physical competency in a formal behavior management safety course (e.g., Quality Behavioral Solutions) provided through ESSC or an approved affiliate.
    • Knowledge of Health Information Management standards, HIPAA Compliance, Internal Audit, Medical Record Keeping and coding, ABA Assessment Operations Management, Electronic Heath Records Management, and Electronic health records (EHR) Software.
    • Extensive knowledge of the Assessments department processes and staff/workforce scheduling; including development of related policies and procedures, performance and customer service metrics.
    • Strong administrative, time management, and supervisory skills. Able to foster teamwork, effective monitoring, motivating, training, and mentoring of staff. Strong interpersonal communication, problemsolving and decision-making skills. Able to direct a multi-location workforce and produce high-quality results.
    • Knowledge of insurance terminology and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)
    • Knowledge of service delivery systems (regional center, health insurance providers, etc.) is preferred.
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and EHR systems in the delivery of services. Ability to learn new software programs as needed.
    • Ability to organize and analyze data, draw conclusions and solutions to improve systems and operational efficiency.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups.
    • Ability to maintain customer-service orientation and professionalism in all interactions. Must relate well to children and their families and maintain positive affect.
    • Able to interpret, follow, and implement policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Ability to work after-hours and weekends as needed.
    • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
    • Ability to travel locally with own reliable transportation, maintain driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards, have and maintain proper auto insurance and vehicle registration
    • Able to obtain criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation per Easterseals Southern California and/or program requirements.
    • Ability to pass a post-offer medical examination and a TB test. Provide proof of required vaccinations or positive titer showing immunity.
    • The position requires bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, sitting on the floor, and twisting in order to observe, assess and interact with participants. Lifting, carrying, and loading/unloading toys and materials used for conducting assessments.
    • Frequent speaking, listening to clients, staff, and other professionals in meetings and on the telephone.
    • Use of upper and lower limbs to drive automobile to and from home visits, ESSC locations, and onsite meetings.
    • Must pass all drug testing required by ESSC.

    • Visual Acuity: Close visual attention to write reports and work at a computer
    • Environmental Exposure: Occasional exposure to unpleasant or hazardous working conditions (e.g., noise, yelling, dust, bodily fluids, etc.)
