- Design for transport efficiency
- Perform containerization analysis and quoting
- Validate new packaging and containers during pilot phase
- Coordinate with assembly planning for line-side storage and ergonomic considerations
- Develop kitting packaging / presentation
- Validate returnable quantities through simulations
- Resolve safety and / or quality issues caused by current packaging
- Resolve issues reported by 3PL or carriersInteraction with team: Working with both NA packaging team as well as both India and China teamsWorking with supply chain - logistics- procurement - Manufacturing - transportation and POU to ensure total alignment with any packaging solutions

Our large manufacturing client located in Pontiac, Illinois, is looking for a Packaging Engineer, to add to their teamPosition's Contributions to Work Group:
Resolving all packaging related safety issues Resolving all Packaging related quality issues Creating cost savings/Avoidance projects Working on returnable packaging solutions to help with sustainability.
Documenting packaging required from all suppliers in EPSA.Creating work standards Focusing on all NPI packaging activities Typical task breakdown:
Provide NPI support (returnable containers CPPD) Develop packaging solutions to protect finished painted components
Work environment:
Office - shop floor - may visit other facilitiesEducation &
Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or Equivalent and 1 years of Industrial Packaging experience required.
Technical Skills -(Creo or other similar electronic drafting experience is required Creo Required)-Pack assist -Knowledge of packaging materials -Knowledge pf packaging suppliers Soft SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent interpersonal, teamwork, organization and communication skillsThorough understanding of company policies and proceduresThorough knowledge of Standard Practice, corporate shipping guidelines, quality and cleanliness specifications and inventory warehousing standards.
DesiredAPICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification desiredExperience with 6 Sigma Project teams preferred.
