JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and develop returnable and expendable packaging for individual pieces and bulk shipping to ensure the timely and efficient receipt and delivery of material.
Establish packaging and processing specifications at the part number level for new product introductions, cost savings, or other supply chain improvement.
Develop, communicate, and maintain supplier packaging requirements.Lead initiatives and collaboration with suppliers and facilities changing packaging to improve efficiency within receiving, warehousing, and/or line-side delivery.
Create packaging concepts and container layouts using 3D modeling software (i.e. Pro-E).
Perform cost analysis and develop business cases for implementing packaging improvements.
Procure and validate new packaging and containers during pilot phase.
Audit supplier conformance to packaging specifications.
Provide NPI support (returnable containers CPPD).
Develop packaging solutions to protect finished painted components.
Design for transport efficiency.
Develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems.
Perform containerization analysis and quoting.
Validate new packaging and containers during pilot phase.
Coordinate with assembly planning for line-side storage and ergonomic considerations.
Develop kitting packaging / presentation.
Validate returnable quantities through simulations.
Resolve safety and / or quality issues caused.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in packaging, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineer, supply chain or related field with 1-year industrial packaging experience.
APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Experience with Creo or other similar electronic drafting experience.
Experience within operations in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge and experience with Pack Assistant and Teamcenter.
Familiar with company policies and procedures with a strong department background.
Additional packaging design experience in automotive or similar industry.
Knowledge of packaging materials and suppliers.
Experience with Manufacturing Enterprise Packaging System.
Experience in conducting cost analysis preparing business cases.
Experience in supplier collaboration implementing packaging and logistics changes.
SOFT SKILLS REQUIRED:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, organization, and communication skills.
Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures.
Thorough knowledge of Standard Practice, corporate shipping guidelines, quality and cleanliness specifications and inventory warehousing standards.
Experience with 6 Sigma Project teams.
