    The University of New Mexico's Project ECHO has an exciting new opportunity for an Operations Specialist to join our Grants Team to support the growth of the organization and build its capacity to secure grants, contracts and sub-awards.


    As an Operations Specialist you will play an instrumental role in streamlining grant submissions, developing new processes and data management.


    The Operations Specialist's primary focus will be to:

    • Develop, prepare, and present reports using data in Salesforce for the Grants Team, the ECHO Executive Team, and other teams as necessary.
    • Oversee and administer the ECHO Grants database and prepare reports, dashboards, and training materials for ECHO teams.
    • Provide operational support to the ECHO Grants Team in scheduling project planning, program team, budget reviews, weekly check-ins, and other meetings as necessary.
    • Implement current strategies and changes to operational strategies to ensure submissions for the Grants Team are properly submitted, recorded, and maintained.
    • Organize and coordinate the implementation of project plans for special projects, including large and complex grant submissions, the development and implementation of new processes, training events, etc.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of training for ECHO teams on grants processes.

    Project ECHO is funded in part by philanthropic grants and gifts from organizations such as the GE Foundation, the Helmsley Charitable Trust, the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation, the Merck Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the US Government.

    Additionally, for programming benefitting New Mexico we receive support from the NM Legislature, the New Mexico Human Services Department and the New Mexico Department of Health.

    Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications

    High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.


    Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications


    • Experience using Salesforce NPSP (or similar CRM/donor database) to track grant submissions and awards.
    • Experience providing administrative/operational support to teams.
    • Knowledge of or interest in grant writing and grant management a plus.
    • Experience in higher education and/or nonprofits.
