COMPANY:
A leading manufacturing company dedicated to enhancing national security is in search of an IT Specialist. This role involves configuring and maintaining various computing architectures to support high-performance computing for massively parallel processing (MPP) systems. The IT Specialist will focus on supporting systems essential for modeling and simulation, setting up commercial and open-source software, and ensuring seamless software communication.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Configure and maintain a computing cluster with essential components such as a head node, compute nodes, job scheduler, virtual machines, and storage systems. Occasionally provide support for standalone computing systems.
- Collaborate with engineers to tailor computing architectures for simulation tasks using a mix of commercial and open-source software.
- Coordinate with vendors or contractors to establish specific computational setups or software tools.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 5-10+ years of experience.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing software across Linux, Unix, and Windows environments.
- Hands-on experience with computing clusters and high-performance computing (HPC) for massively parallel processing.
- Installation and configuration expertise in scientific software, with the ability to aid engineers or vendors in resolving configuration issues. Knowledge of performing simulations in commercial and open-source scientific software is beneficial.
- Familiarity with configuring open-source software independently and managing multiple software dependencies.
- Skilled in managing LUA- or LMOD-type modules, including user group restrictions on software access.
- Experience in maintaining computer and head node hardware, as well as setting up and managing virtual machines.
- Proficiency or aptitude for software programming in languages like JavaScript, C++, Fortran, Python, etc.
- Specialization in manufacturing data storage setup and maintenance.
- Expertise in IT systems supporting manufacturing process monitoring and data collection.
- Knowledge of NIST, NIST 800-53, and/or FEDRAMP frameworks.
- Must be a US citizen or a US-person to qualify for the position.
