Job Summary
PODS is reimagining the moving business, and we're building a new online experience to meet the way modern customers want to engage with their move. We envision a future where a customer can book, manage, and engage with their selected partners all through PODS' digital presence, making the moving experience as seamless and stress free as possible. We're building a team to make this vision a reality, who will focus on building innovative zero-to-one digital experiences to delight our customers and making step-change improvements to the existing moving experience to make it easier for our customers.
This role will report to the Director of Digital Engineering, working on a dedicated platform services, pre-booking, post-booking or commercial engineering team. As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you'll be involved in the entire product development lifecycle including the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of new and existing features. You'll write clean, functional, maintainable, and reusable code on front-end and back-end. You'll collaborate closely with our development team to ensure system consistency and to create a great user experience. You'll also perform UI tests to optimize performance. Ultimately, your work will have direct impact on the stability and user experience of our products. A Day in The Life
Here at PODS, our Digital team is organized into two-pizza teams, or dedicated software development teams with PM/UX resourcing that focus on a specific customer workstream. We work in an Agile environment, and therefore focus on building a long-term vision, and executing that vision in sprints by creating meaningful user stories for our development teams to deliver on. We dive deep into our data, as we believe that data can help us better understand our customers. Where data alone can't answer questions, we facilitate research to better understand our customers and how we can better build technology to help meet their needs. We learn rapidly, and bias towards testing new experiences quickly to see what works (or what doesn't), and we incorporate those learnings into our future roadmap. This role is required ONSITE at PODS corporate center in Clearwater, FL (Monday – Thursday, Friday Remote.) In-office presence is important for cultivating a collaborative and innovative work environment. We provide a level of flexibility and control that other moving methods lack, including built-in storage, adjustable scheduling, and the ability to load and unload belongings on your own time. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive moving experience, including multiple container sizes, PODS City Service, packing supplies, connection to trusted local labor providers, and even car shipping.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Comfortable working with both front and back-end languages in an agile environment
5+ years of proven experience with multiple front-end languages and libraries (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, KnockoutJS, etc.)
8+ years of proven experience with multiple back-end languages (C#, Java, Kotlin, etc.)
5+ years of proven experience databases (SQLServer, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.)
3+ years of cloud experience focusing on migrating applications to cloud leveraging managed services (Azure preferred)
Excellent troubleshooting experience with issue detection and resolution steps with clear timelines
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Curious about new technologies and you're excited to find ways to implement them in your work
Self-starter with minimal supervision to oversee and drive projects forward
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
Working experience with CMS products like Sitecore and web frameworks like KnockoutJS
Exposure to working in a pair-programming environment
Experience with coaching and mentoring other developers
