    Position Description

    Primary Purpose and Essential Functions

    The primary responsibility of this position is to further develop, implement and manage the Breaking Barriers Symposium and related technical and consultative activities. Breaking Barriers is a project of the McGeorge School of Law that engages in strategic and field-building activities that advance the collaboration of government and non-governmental organizations in partnership with communities to advance integration as a key strategy to improve outcomes for children in California.

    This position is classified as clinical faculty within the JD programs at the McGeorge School of Law. Specific duties include:
    • Developing a program and Symposium with core organizational partners that will prepare and support teams of local government leaders and other participants to drive integration in their local settings.
    • Present, teaching, facilitate, mentor, and otherwise actively participating in the delivery of the Symposium, workshops and other elements of the Breaking Barrier's program.
    • Teach at least one class annually in the JD and/or MPP/MPA program.
    • Cultivating and sustaining positive relationships with additional partners, clients, and investors, developing proposals, securing funding, and administering grants and contracts.
    • Building agreement with partners on program design and content. Working with partners to assess and continuously improve the activities of the programs and share what is learned among the relevant professional, policy making, and philanthropic audiences.
    • Collaborate with the Director of the Transformational Change Partnership (TCP) project at McGeorge School of Law to support the TCP, Breaking Barriers, and develop additional complementary programs.
    • Supporting efforts to enhance the regional and national reputation of the program, McGeorge School of Law, and the University of the Pacific as a center of excellence in public policy, administration, and transformational change, including presentations and publications for professional and academic audiences.
    • Selecting personnel, managing the budget, and performing other roles of a program director within university policies.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Juris Doctorate (JD) in law, Master's in Public Policy (MPP) or Public Administration (MPA).
    • Ten (10) years of professional experience, including at least five (5) years of program management experience.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Demonstrated experience as an innovator who has successfully executed a vision and led change within an organization or network of organizations and individuals.
    • Knowledge of and substantial professional engagement in relevant issues with local governments and agencies of the State of California.
    • Knowledge and experience in mental health service provision by schools and public agencies.
    • Commitment to diversity in education and public service.
    • Success in obtaining external funding, including philanthropic or other non-governmental support.
    • Higher-education teaching experience.
    • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
    • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
    • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

    Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
    Schedule is dependent on course and department needs.

    Hiring Range
    $130, $180,000.00 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
