Introduction:


This position aims to fill multiple part-time roles within the Human Services Agency and aims to establish a referral pool for future part-time opportunities.

It includes a Cost of Living Adjustment Increase in July.

TYPICAL DUTIES:


  • Acquire skills to provide services and manage a caseload for clients in need of social services, based on individualized employee training.
  • Evaluate clients' social, physical, and mental needs; conduct interviews to assess their requirements; develop treatment plans; make referrals; collaborate with service providers; and advocate for clients.
  • Research, develop, and implement financial and social treatment plans in collaboration with clients; assess progress in case plans.
  • Conduct home visits to assess living conditions, health, and family dynamics; identify potential cases of abuse or neglect and take appropriate action.
  • Investigate referrals and offer services to individuals in need of protection.
  • Coordinate service plans with supervisors, eligibility workers, and other agencies.
  • Prepare case records, reports, and correspondence; utilize computer systems for social service cases.
  • Interpret and communicate department policies to clients and service providers.
  • May participate in court proceedings and provide testimony.
  • May assist in selecting and evaluating foster homes, boarding homes, and daycare facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in social work, sociology, psychology, counseling, or a related field.


License:
Possession of a valid California driver's license.


KNOWLEDGE:

Basic principles of individual and group behavior; social work practices; psychology and sociology principles; interviewing and problem-solving techniques; understanding of social and economic conditions; public assistance policies; computer systems; report writing.


ABILITY:


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:


Mobility: Frequent operation of computers; sitting for extended periods; walking; may require driving;
Lifting: Ability to lift varying weights;
Vision: Good vision and eye/hand coordination;
Dexterity: Normal dexterity with writing;
Hearing/Talking: Frequent communication;
Emotional/Psychological: Public contact; decision making; working alone; exposure to various situations;
Special Requirements: Some assignments may require weekend/nights, overtime, and travel.
