    Snapdragon is expanding in its capabilities to power the next-generation cockpit experience as the media and information center in the vehicle, which drives significant audio, video, graphics, camera and software complexity.

    AI is also now expanding the horizon and bringing new use cases to customers.

    Job DescriptionThis position is for Qualcomm Automotive Application Engineering Group, which closely collaborates with its automotive partners and customers from concept to commercialization.

    The team involves with all aspects of an Embedded software product launch such as Architecture, SW & HW designs, Feature Prototyping, documentation, Feature Integration, SW customization, Performance Optimization & Improvement and other debugging efforts which are vital for successful launches of products.

    This Position is for a strong Senior level Software Application Engineer with good knowledge and hands-on experience in Design/Development/Debugging aspects of Embedded Multimedia (Graphics/ Display/Camera/Video /Audio) and/or BSP (boot, security, stability, Low level Kernel Drivers, Ethernet, PCIe, USB, Peripheral Drivers, Framework/Services, Hypervisor, KPIs, ) on one or more of operating systems like Linux, Android, Greenhills Integrity and QNX embedded operating systems/hypervisors.

    The main responsibility is to work with Qualcomm customers and partners and assist in product architecture/design and software design/porting/integration/documentation/training/testing/debug/triage/customization and optimization to meet the product requirements using the features in Qualcomm SOC.

    You will also be working closely with Qualcomm internal Engineering and sales/marketing teams.

    Handling Customer Q&A, analyzing/troubleshooting their problems, collaborating with development teams, on-site support, proposing design, providing trainings, root cause analysis, preventive steps, continuous improvement etc are part of daily work.

    The Candidate must be able to quickly ramp-up onto an existing project, understand Automotive platform Hardware and Software driver architecture, read/write technical specifications/requirements, demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and work closely with external customers to launch their new products on time.

    The successful candidate will get a chance to work on cutting edge infotainment/digital cockpit technologies from leading Auto manufacturers and Tier1s and see the projects through to commercializationMinimum Qualifications:


    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

    ORMaster's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

    ORPhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.


    • 3+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Masters degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.12+ years Software Engineering or related work experience.1+ years working with operating budgets and/or project financials2+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above)3+ years experience in a customer-facing role.


    • Working knowledge of operating systems like QNX, Linux, Android and other RTOSsExperience in multimedia and/or BSP areas like system design, camera, imaging, display, HAL, low level Linux Kernel Drivers, Device Tree (DTS), Security/KMS/DRM, Surfaceflinger, Window Manager, Weston/Wayland, display engine,bridge chipset, MIPI DSI/HDMI/DP interface, Hypervisors and Virtualization, OpenGLES, Vulcan, OpenCL, OpenGL, Audio Frame works and Drivers, Video Codecs (HEVC, H265/H264), Audio Codecs (MP3/AAC), QNX, bootloaders, AI/ML, and related debuggingExperience with Embedded software development, integration, debugging.
    Experience as a lead or a Project Engineer/Architect, in addition to recent hands-on workExcellent issue triage and Debugging skills. Troubleshooting ability with relevant tools (e.g. GDB, JTAG-Debugger, ADB, logs)

    • Quick Adaptability to work in new technologies.
    Fluent in C/C++ programming, embedded system software development on ARM CPU.Exposure to Qualcomm mobile or Automotive platforms is a plus

    • Strong Technical and project leadership skillsStrong Communication and Team working skills.
    Exposure to Automotive product development and/or technical support is a plusPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities:



    Leverages advanced Software knowledge and experience to design, develop, create, modify, and validate critical embedded and cloud edge software, applications, and/or specialized utility programs.



    Analyzes user needs, software requirements, and time and cost constraints to design and customize sophisticated software for optimal operational efficiency.


    Designs and implements software sub-systems for complex, large-scale products and systems.

    Leads design, coding, and testing efforts to ensure that projects are completed to specifications and schedules.


    Performs highly complex code reviews and regression tests as well as triages and fixes issues to ensure the quality of code.



    Collaborates with individuals outside the software function (e.g., Hardware, Systems, and Test engineers) to increase leverage and design solutions that work with other components of a specific project.


    Writes detailed technical documentation for highly complex Software projects; reviews technical documentation for junior engineers

    Level of Responsibility:

    Works independently with minimal supervision.

    Decision-making is critical in nature and highly impacts program, product, or project success.

    Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information. May require negotiation, influence, tact, etc.


    Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to make key decisions).

    $152, $228,000.00


    The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.

    Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
