    Description

    Job Purpose Summary:

    The Medical Director will provide direct care to both Harmony Bay Wellness and Victory Bay Recovery clients and patients as well as oversee our APN?s, PA?s and medical team.

    The Medical Director will be key in the oversight and delivery of services designed to provide the highest level of care to those suffering from mental illness and addiction.

    This position serves both locations on one campus in Laurel Springs, NJ.


    Responsibilities Include:

    • Performing initial psychiatric evaluations Prescribing medications during follow up medication management appointments Injection of medications when appropriate Provide leadership and oversight to medical team Case conferencing with Director of Nursing, Clinical Director, and APN staff Hiring, training and evaluation of medical staff On-Call/After-Hours Phone coverage and availability, as needed

    Job Type:
    Full-time Required education: MD or DO Required experience: 5 years? experience as an MD or DO, 3 years? experience in a supervisory role Proper Knowledge and Skills: Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)

    • Deploy Wellness Toolbox Coach Daily Maintenance Pan Educate Triggers Identification Educate Early Warning Signs Education When Things are Breaking Down Educate and Develop A Crisis Plan or Advanced Directive Educate and Develop a Post Crisis Plan Illness Management and Recovery (IMR): Evidence-Based Competencies for Seriously Mentally Ill (SMI)

    Clients:

    • Instill hope that change is possible. Develop a collaborative relationship with a treatment team. Help people establish personally meaningful goals to strive towards. Provide information about mental illness and treatment options. Teach skills for reducing relapses, dealing with stress, and coping with symptoms. Provide information about where to obtain needed resources. Help people develop or enhance their natural supports for managing their illness and pursuing their goals.
    Core Competencies ? Proper English and grammar, usage and spelling ? Software application related to the field ? General offices principles and practices ? Basic computer knowledge including email etiquette ? Professional phone and customer service demeanor ? Demonstrate Motivational Interviewing Skills ? Demonstrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ? Demonstrate Educational Strategies Physical requirements:

    • Must be able to lift 20-50 lbs. Occasional to frequent walking, sitting, standing, driving Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)

    • Communicable diseases Hot/cold temperatures Environmental conditions may vary Required licenses or certifications: The Medical Director must be a NJ Licensed Physician with the following credentials: Valid NJ Licenses: DEA CDS Data Waiver American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and additional ASAM/ABAM/ABPM Certification preferred Current CPR Certification Narcan Certified
    Supervision of APNs, 20 minutes per week. Weekly chart review. State collaboration agreement.
