    Description

    Seeking an experienced FPGA Engineer with 8-10 years of technical experience to become an integral member of the engineering team dedicated to developing embedded systems for Navel projects.

    Primary activities will include embedded systems design and corresponding design of test software and hardware, developing firmware for both microcontroller and FPGA based systems, creating circuit board schematics, and performing system test and verification.


    DUTIES:

    • Design, implement, simulate, and test firmware components for FPGAbased systems
    • Define FPGA timing, pinout, and placement constraints; review synthesis and timing reports; and address issues
    • Design, implement, and unit test firmware components for microcontrollerbased systems
    • Integrate and test firmware on target hardware
    • Design and simulate digital circuits
    • Develop test systems including test software applications
    • Generate system/software/interface requirements, detailed design, and build documentation
    • Document and present trade studies, analyses, test results and status to the team
    • Research, identify, and evaluate new technologies REQUIREMENTS:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or similar degree
    • 810 years of experience
    • Experience with the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation and test phases
    • Experience writing technical documentation for embedded systems
    • Strong background in FPGA design in VHDL, verification and timing closure
    • Strong background implementing microcontroller firmware in C or C++
    • Strong background in digital circuit design
    • Experience with Linux and embedded operating systems
    • Proficiency with memory technologies, voltage regulation devices, ADCs, DACs, and common lowlevel communication interfaces
    • Proficiency with common lab equipment such as oscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and soldering PREFERRED:
    • OrCAD Capture, Quartus, LabWindows/CVI, Git
    • Softcore processors (Nios and/or MicroBlaze)
    • ARMbased microcontrollers
    • National Instruments data acquisition systems
    • Autonomous vehicles and associated software/hardware (autonomy software, navigation systems, electric motors, battery systems)
