    SUMMARY
    The Mobile Crisis Responder provides crisis intervention services to youth under 21 years old who are experiencing mental health crisis events which may constitute a substantial or immediate danger to their physical safety or the safety of others. The focus is to provide immediate crisis intervention services to prevent, deescalate, and mitigate crisis situations.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

    1. Serve as a responder for Designated Service Area (DSA) #25.
    2. Must be immediately available during scheduled shift to prevent, respond to, de-escalate, and mitigate crisis situations. Includes responding to crisis referrals for youth under the SASS Program, Medicaid adults, MCO members, and Pathways clients.
    3. Responsible for receiving all crisis referrals from the CARES line on a no-decline basis within 30 minutes of the referral.
    4. Respond in-person to all MCR requests within 90 minutes after receiving the referral from the CARES line.
    5. Complete a screening and assessment using the Illinois Medicaid Crisis Assessment Tool (IM-CAT).
    6. Responsible for immediate and short-term follow-up, transition, and linkage activities.
    7. Coordinate with the assigned Care Coordinator and participate on a short-term basis on the CFT for Pathways clients.
    8. Complete all required MCR Intake packet paperwork at the point of crisis.
    9. Ensure all required crisis intervention documentation is complete and accurate.
    10. Provide and arrange for reunification, family generated placement or psychiatric hospitalization at time of crisis, with a short-term crisis plan.
    11. Provide Linkage and Referral services specific to client and family needs during time of crisis.
    12. Adhere to MCR schedule, by ensuring that answering service can contact worker immediately via cell phone and home phone as a secondary means of contact.
    13. Provide required documentation (i.e. mileage, time sheets, etc.) as indicated by agency protocols.
    14. Participate in individual, group supervision, and program staff meetings as scheduled to address client issues and revised documentation, placement options, professional development, and crisis schedules.
    15. Assist in coordinating and facilitating regularly scheduled community outreach meetings.
    16. Comply with the State of Illinois mandated reporting law.
    17. Complete all required Federal, HFS, and Agency Core Curriculum trainings, meetings and workshops as required.
    18. Provide services to program clients during on-call shift as deemed necessary by supervisor.
    19. All other duties as assigned.

    TRAUMA INFORMED CARE

    Ensure that all employees are using a trauma informed approach to all of their work duties that include the "5 S's". This approach sets a high priority for staff and client:

    • Self-regulation (ability to manage one's own emotions so they do not interfere with the helping process)
    • Supportiveness (building relationships with clients that are respectful and caring)

    • Self-care (resolve any secondary stress reactions)

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field required.
    • Previous experience (1 year minimum) with at-risk youth and/or crisis response required.

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must be available to work evenings and weekends and flexible in scheduling.
    • Will be required to transport clients in own vehicle.
    • Must be able to accept and incorporate constructive feedback.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    • Valid Illinois driver's license with a clear driving record.
    • Documentation verifying current automobile insurance.
