Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Safely transports program participants using agency vehicles or public transportation.
  • Drives throughout Chicago and nearby areas for food delivery and supply pickups.
  • Supervises and ensures the safety of program participants individually or in groups.
  • Respond effectively to unexpected situations and crises during transport, communicating promptly with supervisors.
  • Assists in maintaining company vehicles, and reporting issues to management regularly.
  • Participates in program activities, and events, and maintains overall cleanliness of the residential program.
  • Responds immediately to security and safety breaches, providing physical restraint as needed, per restraint and crisis intervention training and program guidelines.
  • Completes necessary forms and reports accurately and promptly.
  • Performs housekeeping duties, including cleaning, laundering, and meal preparation.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working with youth, or in security, transportation, general professional driving, general warehouse, or the military.
  • Fluency in a second language may be required.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL License with a passenger endorsement preferred.
  • Clean driving record complying with DCFS' requirements for drivers.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.

Work Environment:


  • YRS program sites operate 24/7, requiring flexibility in work location and scheduling.
  • Three primary shifts scheduled each day, including weekends and holidays. Employees may be required to work any one of these shifts and, if necessary, may be required to work a split shift, or an extended or shorter shift, based on the needs of the program.
  • Employees may be required to work at various YRS facilities as necessitated by program needs.
  • Crisis prevention and behavioral management techniques may include physically restraining and escorting participants.

Physical Demands:


  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to assist in physically restraining youth with proper training.
  • Regular use of hands, standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, climbing, twisting, turning, and reaching.
