Cheder Lubavitch Elementary School (Girls Division) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Social Worker to join our team of educators and support staff.

As a School Social Worker, you will play a vital role in promoting the social, emotional, and academic development of our students.

Your expertise in counseling, crisis intervention, and collaboration will contribute to creating a safe and nurturing environment that fosters the success and well-being of all students.


Responsibilities:


Counseling and Support:
Provide individual and group counseling to students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges. Offer guidance and support to help them navigate personal issues that may impact their academic performance and overall well-being.


Crisis Intervention:

Respond promptly to critical incidents within the school community, offering immediate support and counseling to students and staff during difficult times.


Behavioral Assessment and Intervention:
Assess student behavior and develop targeted intervention strategies to address any disruptive or concerning behaviors. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff members to implement behavioral support plans.


Collaboration with Staff and Families:
Work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop a comprehensive support system for students. Participate in team meetings to discuss student progress, identify challenges, and devise appropriate solutions.


Advocacy:

Advocate for the needs of students by collaborating with community resources, agencies, and support services to ensure they receive the necessary assistance and care.


Preventive Programs:
Design and implement preventive programs that address issues such as bullying, peer pressure, conflict resolution, and character education. Conduct classroom presentations and workshops to promote social and emotional learning.


Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and confidential student records, documenting all interactions and interventions. Prepare reports and assessments as required by school policies and regulations.


Professional Development:
Stay informed about the latest developments in social work, counseling techniques, and educational research. Attend workshops and training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work or related field, with relevant state licensure and certification as a school social worker or counselor.
  • Previous experience in school settings or working with children and families is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Knowledge of various counseling techniques, crisis intervention strategies, and behavior management methods.
  • Understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds and a commitment to promoting an inclusive and equitable school environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage caseloads effectively and meet deadlines.
