    About the Role


    The Director of Operations is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective general operations of 4Culture in meeting the agency's mission.

    This position will provide management and lead staff coordination of 4Culture's IT, Finance, and Facilities, including development and management of new and ongoing Operations' initiatives and the drafting of Operations work plans and program budgets.

    The Director of Operations is considered a senior leader and a key contributor to a management team focused on organizational change management, policy development, and strategic planning.

    You will be most successful in this position if:

    You have previous experience managing facilities in a downtown urban environment.
    Minimum of three (3) years of direct supervisory experience or equivalent experience leading teams.
    Familiarity with municipal, non-profit and cultural organizations throughout King County.
    You have previous CRM experience (Salesforce Certified Administrator preferred, but not required).

    Manage several complex projects simultaneously, at times in high-stress, high-pressure situations.

    Work independently and collaboratively with 4Culture staff, County employees, media and members of the general public in an effective, and professional manner.


    Supervisory responsibilities:
    This position supervises the Operations Department, which includes Finance Staff, the I.T. Manager, and the Receptionist. This position may occasionally oversee interns/volunteers.

    Job Responsibilities:
    Serve as the lead staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating all 4Culture's Operations' Department efforts.
    Recruit, hire, supervise and evaluate the work of full time, part time and temporary Operations' department employees.
    Draft annual Operations Department work plans and budget, in collaboration with building management, lead staff, and 4Culture's Executive Director. Work with internal stakeholders to align work with 4Culture's long-range strategic plans and policies.

    Oversee application and contract management databases, online application portals, and connected software platforms to ensure effective funding and operational processes.

    Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal data privacy laws, monitor adherence to best practices and standards, and act as a point of contact with any supervisory or regulatory authorities related to the Agency's data storage/protection processes, systems, or special initiatives.

    Working with building management, serve as 4Culture's primary point of contact for all building/facilities work including coordination of work performed by outside vendors and/or contractors.

    Oversee and enforce facility operations such as security, maintenance, landscaping, janitorial, emergency preparedness, safety trainings, and other support when needed.

    Serve as the point of contact for staff concerning facility management, maintenance, repairs, remodeling of spaces, or alteration of fixed equipment or structures, in collaboration with the Executive Director and other lead staff.

    Serve as backup help-desk technology support for the I.T. Manager.
    Serve on the Senior Leadership team and Racial Equity Team.
    Attend Board of Director meetings as needed.

    Lead inter-department team that supports internal communication between grant managers and finance team in efforts to troubleshoot and improve applicant and contracting processes.

    Contribute to the overall health and welfare of 4Culture by participating on internal sub-committees that address overarching issues affecting the operations of the agency and working collaboratively to create publications, presentations, and other 4Culture outreach and advocacy materials.

    Minimum Qualifications:


    We are looking for candidates that can demonstrate they have the skills listed above through a combination of their work, education, and life experience as demonstrated in their resume, and cover letter.

    Degree in non-profit or public administration, communications, public relations, art/art history/history, science, information technology, or related field.
    Five year's experience in administration or facilities management (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
    Experience working with government agencies, non-profit boards, and/or cultural organizations.
    Proficiency in MS Office 365 including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint plus Salesforce or a CRM software equivalent.
    Basic I.T. helpdesk troubleshooting skills.

    Doors Open is a 0.1% sales tax to support arts, heritage, science, and preservation non-profit organizations in King County.

    Doors Open legislation was drafted by the King County Executive and passed by the King County Council in 2023 and will be rolled out by 4Culture in It consists of six funding programs:
    Sustained Support, Public School Cultural Access, Public Free Access, Building for Equity, County-wide Initiatives, and Launch.

    4Culture is a public agency supporting the King County cultural and science sectors through revenue from Lodging Tax, 1% for Art, and Doors Open funding sources.
