    About the Position


    The Director of Operations oversees the operations of all Job Training & Education (JTE) Centers and supervises a team of 5-8 Center Managers.

    The Director of Operations is responsible for ensuring the effective provision of high-quality programs and serves as the link between the community, Seattle Goodwill and JTE Centers.

    This position plays a vital role in the development, implementation and achievement of the strategic and program goals.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.


    • Direct supervision of Center Managers and other staff as assigned.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor operational systems and processes that maximize departmental output and impact, designing and implementing process improvements.
    • Responsible for Center operations including staffing, succession planning, scheduling, goal forecasting, and service delivery.
    • Partners with Center Managers to ensure quality of program implementation and delivery.
    • Assist the Director of Budgets & Contracts with the development and management of Center budgets.
    • Partner with the Director of Mission Performance to provide training and professional development opportunities for Center Managers and their staff based on identified skill gaps. Provide follow up support and coaching as needed.
    • Responsible to support, advance, and contribute to a DEI framework.
    • Utilize data to monitor and improve program performance at the Centers.
    • Develop and maintain all operations policies and procedures for Mission department and ensure compliance at the centers.
    • Effectively communicate the strategic direction of Mission and be the voice of the Centers in Evergreen Goodwill management and leadership circles. Contribute informed input at strategic discussions and planning and collaborate with all Mission Directors.
    • Partner and collaborate with Center Managers to develop and grow partnerships and collaborations with community-based organizations (CBO), non-profits, and workforce development organizations at the local level that align with Evergreen Goodwill's mission. Responsible for all partnership agreements.
    • Develop and ensure positive relations between Mission and all Goodwill departments. Ensure all Goodwill employees are knowledgeable about Mission programs and services.
    • Uphold safe work practices in support of a safety culture through awareness and observation; train and educate employees of safety requirements; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
    • Oversee Center remodels and builds.
    • Partner with the VP of Mission, and in collaboration with students and staff, in the development and implementation of department-wide and student-centered initiatives.
    • Attend required meetings, trainings and develop and deliver presentations.
    • Support community engagement opportunities including (but not limited to): attending and representing Evergreen Goodwill at community meetings and events; speaking to community partners; engaging volunteers and donors; serving on city, county, state, and GII (Goodwill Industries International) committees and taskforces; participating in roundtables and on panels.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    Direct supervision of Center Managers and any other assigned employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Goodwill's policies and applicable laws.

    Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; monitoring performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Partner with People Relations as needed and appropriate.

    Position Requirements

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Master's degree in Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education. Master's Degree preferred; however, lived-experience and international experience considered in lieu of more traditional, U.S. achieved credentials. Knowledge of the local workforce, adult education and human services networks preferred.
    • Minimum seven (7) years' experience in nonprofit, public sector, workforce development or related field. Minimum five (5) years' experience in program and policy development and enforcement. Must have extensive knowledge of workforce issues and trends.
    • Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience.
    • Exceptional ability to organize work, follow through on projects, anticipate project needs, function independently as well as part of a team, and work effectively with staff and volunteers.
    • Must be committed to creating and sustaining a learning environment in which students feel safe, supported and encouraged; foster an environment that is inclusive, culturally rich, and bias free.
    • Ability to always practice confidentiality.
    • Remote and occasional evening and weekend work required.
    • Must be able to meet travel requirements of up to 50% of work time locally and statewide.

    Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:

    • Must have valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
    • Project Management certification or equivalent a plus.

    Computer/Technology Skills:

    • Advanced proficiency with web-based applications (Google Workspace), video conferencing, budgetary tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.

    Physical Demands:


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required sit for long periods of time, communicate with other employees by talking and hearing and to operate computer systems.

    Able to safely lift/push/pull up to 25 lbs., grasp, handle, finger and manipulate items; perform repetitive fine motor functions with fingers, wrists, and arms, standing for long periods of time.

    Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.

    Work Environment:
    Office/classroom environment; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must have reliable transportation, as this position requires travel to offsite meetings and events. Able to work a flexible schedule that may include occasional nights and weekends.
