As pioneers of the VNS (Vagus Nerve Stimulation) Therapy system, LivaNova continues to advance medical device solutions for patients affected by Drug-Resistant Epilepsy (DRE) and Difficult-to-Treat Depression (DTD).
People with severe seizures have, on average, a shorter life expectancy and an increased risk of cognitive impairment particularly if the seizures developed in early childhood.
VNS Therapy for DRE is delivered through a device that sends mild pulses to the vagus nerve at regular intervals throughout the day in an effort to prevent seizures.
This role is a technical, hands-on opportunity working with a robust, cross-functional group of Electrical, Test, Manufacturing, RF and firmware engineers.
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer who has an approach that considers design specifications and business needs to deliver Implantable medical device systems that improve quality of life for numerous patients.
The Electrical Engineer plays important role in the design of the product form concept to production, taking key role in various phases of the project from characterization to production and post-production.
Responsibilities:
Determining feasibility of a design concept through part selection, prototyping and initial design fabrication of the PCBA, board bring up (debug as necessary) and characterization to determine the suitability of the concept.
Execute tests and analyze data using statistical methods and influence product designs choices based on your findings.
Ability to write technical specifications and requirements and strong written and oral communication skills to accurately convey issues and information.
Risk assessment of the proposed design and mitigation of residual risk via design or process controls. Ability to perform dFMEA analysis independently on design modules and systems.
Perform design reviews periodically to keep the stakeholders informed and seek critical feedback to improve on the design.
Skills and Experience:
Electrical Engineering design
Experience with the following:
Altium or equivalent PCB layout and design tool, C sharp, Test automation, Matlab, Stats tools, Technical documentaton
Experience using EE lab equipment such as Oscilloscope, Multimeters, Signal generators, etc
Previous work experience in a highly regulated industry such as medical product development is preferred.
Experience with low-power circuit design, Analog ICs
Experience with embedded devices
Experience with Cadence Suite, PSPICE, and other high and low frequency simulation tools
Experience with Altium board layout and schematic capture
Experience with Parts selection, Device characterization, and thorough data analysis
Hands-on experience with debugging and related equipment (Oscilloscope, Multimeters, Logic Analyzers, etc.)
Experience in C, C++ or C# for Electrical tests automation is a preferred
Education
BSEE
MSEE or PhD preferred
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel may be required.
Compensation:
The target pay range for this role is from $150,000 - $180,000 annually, plus annual bonus
