- Work collaboratively with other University Ministry interns and fellows (Beloved Community, Faith for Change, Ministry en lo Cotidiano, and Waters Interns) to help shape the environment of the University Ministry Center and its programs in ways that reflect hospitality and contemplation, including but not limited to ways that involve your presence, care for the physical space, and design and execution of programs.
- Coordinate the planning and execution of 4-6 retreat experiences yearly, working collaboratively with University Ministry staff and student workers. Duties include promotion, recruitment, team formation, program content creation, logistical coordination, and follow-up.
- Coordinate opportunities for daily retreat moments or contemplation, working collaboratively with University Ministry staff and student workers. Programs may include but are not limited to Dominican-associated holidays, student or group blessings/send-offs, or coordinating the use of the labyrinth. Duties include promotion, recruitment and outreach, presiding or other leadership during reflection/prayer.
- Actively engage in ministry and outreach. Interns will be responsible for regularly engaging with other DU members and community partners to listen, create connection opportunities and facilitate belonging across campus activities and within the greater community.
- Help to coordinate and initiate comprehensive marketing and promotion efforts of the department.
- Design and create content for print and digital publishing in a way that speaks strongly to the values of University Ministry.
- Design, create, and manage content for social media (Instagram) and engageDU in a way that communicates clearly the values of University Ministry.
- Strategize creative ways to communicate with and reach the campus community to invite diverse student participation in University Ministry sponsored activities.
- Work to infuse a spirit of contemplation, reflection, and prayer into campus culture.
- Attend bi-weekly team meetings and staff meetings as required.
- Attend weekly Theological Reflection led by staff members and consisting of other University Ministry Interns.
- Attend orientation, training, an opening retreat and other formative activities as assigned.
- Assist with university wide collaborations as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must be enrolled as a Dominican University student at least part-time in a degree-seeking program
- Must be eligible for US employment
- Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office and Canva.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational abilities.
- Demonstrated skills for hospitality, building community, engaging peers, and shaping environments conducive for reflection.
- An ability to respect confidential information.
- A "self-starter," willing to take initiative, work independently, and be dependable.
- Demonstrated commitment to the work of University Ministry and desire to share in the mission and goals of the department.
