    Description

    This position is a mixture of office-related tasks performed in a reception area environment, and physical tasks performed daily at various locations within the building, (e.g., dorm rooms, laundry rooms, etc.).

    The office-related portion includes receptionist functions, dorm scheduling, inventory tracking and assigning of access fobs and meal cards, and production of invoices and monthly billing for meal card charges.

    The physical tasks include checking dorm rooms and other areas to ensure they were cleaned properly, as well as changing light bulbs and washing and replacing shower curtains.

    This position works with another part-time employee who also performs the office-related tasks.

    Together with the manager of facilities, who provides oversight, they serve SLCC and partner with public safety agencies on premises.

    Essential Responsibilities and Duties

    Greet and direct visitors.

    Disseminate general information/directions to students, employees, and guests.

    Act as point-person for students, teachers, leadership, etc., to answer questions, solve problems, or make referrals when necessary.

    Schedule dorm reservations and perform other tasks related to dorm stays.

    Maintain accurate records of dorm fob and meal card assignments and inventory.

    Produce monthly billing reports and invoices from meal card purchases.

    Create and/or update various tracking documents.

    Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued

    Receive mail and packages.

    Be familiar with and explain department and college policies and procedures.

    Become familiar with Public Safety personnel, departments, and their associated policies and procedures.

    Submit Work Orders for repairs to be performed in our building.

    Perform weekly inspections of dorm facilities.

    Wash and replace shower curtains.

    Minimum Qualifications

    High School Diploma or equivalent.

    One year of post high school education/training or

    One year of related, paid, work experience.

    Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a broad range of diverse people, abilities, culture, ethnic backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.


    Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, staff and off campus guests including those with disabilities.

    Ability and willingness to work effectively and cooperatively with all law enforcement and public safety personnel.

    Ability to work independently and follow projects through to completion; self-motivated.

    Ability to write concisely using correct grammar and appropriate tone.

    Ability to perform detailed tasks while maintaining availability to assist to others.

    Ability to maintain a positive and helpful attitude under pressure.

    Ability to be dependable, punctual, and meet deadlines.

    Ability to lift 25 pounds.

    Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties Special Instructions

    Part time 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 10:00 to 4:00, or 11:00 to 5:00 (up to 125 hours per calendar month). Hours and times may vary slightly. Monday through Thursday (may rarely need to work an occasional Friday if needed).
