    Job Description

    The Accounting Manager develops and directs accounting activities for the retail services, market operations and trading areas. This position is responsible for evaluating and implementing derivative accounting policies and procedures to properly account for all energy related transactions and ensures compliance with policies, procedures and internal controls. This position also leads the forecasting, budgeting and analysis for the retail services, market operations and trading areas.

    Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
    • Develops and maintains policies, procedures, manuals and documentation to comply with accounting and other authoritative guidance on accounting for derivatives and energy related transactions. This includes documenting and determining accounting treatment and analysis of the financial statement impact of third-party contracts related to derivative, lease, revenue and other authoritative guidance.
    • Responsible for all accounting functions related to the retail services, market operations and trading areas. This includes review of monthly estimates, accruals, journal entries, reconciliations and ensuring accurate designation. Provides support to the trading area, retail services and related business unit leaders.
    • Facilitates internal and external audit requests and inquiries related to the retail services division, market operations and hedging.
    • Oversees the Sarbanes-Oxley trading cycle control revisions.
    • Plans and outlines direction in response to initiatives by BHER leadership. This includes evaluation of systems, procedures, controls and processes that may require enhancement.
    • Reviews information and reports for corporate purposes and regulatory compliance filings.
    • Leads forecasting and budgeting processes related to the retail services division, market operations and hedging.
    • Directs training and provides evaluation input for direct reports.
    • Performs other responsibilities, as requested.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business OR 6 years of accounting related, progressive work experience
    • 8 years of related experience required, including two years in a leadership role.
    • Advanced degree or CPA
    • Working knowledge of accounting principles, derivatives and other energy related transactions
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Advanced computer software skills
    • Effective oral and written communication skills
    • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
