    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Operate heavy equipment to load weigh box and push up new incoming loads of clay.
  • Lifting grinding media that weighs 55 lbs., repeatedly.
  • Learn the controls and operation of the ball mills.
  • Maintain and do testing on Ball Mill (density, viscosity, residue test).
  • Deal with suppliers and truck drivers, keeping track of material quantities.
  • Learn how to navigate and program the batching screen in the Ball Mill Control Room.
  • Keep lump breaker area and pit free of spilled material.
  • Multi-task by watching belts, screens, etc., to ensure smooth operation.
  • Operate a forklift and front-end loader.
  • Learn and maintain the hoses and connections needed to pump slip where it belongs.
  • Clean floors and equipment to avoid contamination.
  • Complete 5S and TPMs and all other necessary paperwork.
  • Use Gemba board to effectively communicate issues.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, Supervisors, and other Departments as needed.
  • Cross-train in order to work all Powder Prep positions if needed: Color Room Operator Make stain/colorMake batch correctionsProvide color to the spray dryerUnload trucks to restock stain.Clean mixing tank, holding tanks, ATMs.Clean sieves after each color at the end of the day, taking care of waste when full.Lifting 55 lbs., hooking and unhooking hoses and moving hoses. Spray Dryer Check lances to determine they are spraying well and change lances.Perform startup, maintenance, and shutdown procedures, including cleaning.Ensure that appropriate slip supplies are available.Supervise the screening and electromagneting of all slip to be used.Ensure that spray dried powder, after acceptance by the Technical Department, is delivered only to the powder slip for the correct color.Measure silos and check cycle tanks and dump cyclone tanks if necessary.Startup spray dryer.Clean spray dryer lines, clean sieves, wash spray dryer, and clean floor.Complete moisture checks and density and viscosity testing.Keep powder running to presses. Powder Silos Keep powder running to the Press Department.Clean lines and do color changes when orders are complete.Run and wash spray dryer when needed.Vacuum Powder Silo decks and wash silos when emptyAssist in dumping hoppers in department and outside departments.Perform basic maintenance (for example, replacing vacuum and dust collector hoses/belts/scrapers). Work on Kaizen for continuous improvement.Follow safety guidelines and company standards, utilizing Personal Protection Equipment.Adhere to company policies and procedures.Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace.Perform any other duties that may be required or assigned.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass a background check, employment verification and drug screening

  • 1 year of experience in a related environment or equivalent training and/or education
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, Standard Operation Procedures (SOP), and standard work.
  • Must possess shift and schedule flexibility of regular time (any shift that may include off-hours and/or weekends), and overtime, as needed.
  • Must agree to follow safety guidelines and wear applicable safety equipment, e.g., safety glasses, side shields, approved safety shoes, and other PPE as needed.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to use a calculator; ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; able to communicate effectively and function in a team-based environment; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
