Job Description:

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Product Designer plays a crucial role in the software development life cycle by creating intuitive and engaging user interfaces for digital products/solutions. You will lead the process of ideating, developing, and refining products to meet specific stakeholder needs and solve user problems. Will take part in user research, prototyping, visualization, testing, analyzing, and communicating. As a UI/UX expert, you will work with other talented and dedicated design colleagues to help design and build the user interfaces for all different solutions, while maintaining a consistent and standard user experience.

This role is crucial in ensuring that a product not only looks good, but also provides an optimal user experience, thereby meeting both user needs and business objectives.

General tasks and responsibilities will include:

• Provide mentorship and guidance to other designers, offering support in skill development and professional growth.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and other stakeholders, to ensure alignment on design goals and objectives.

• Apply extensive experience and deep understanding of design principles and best practices to inform design decisions, standards and solutions.

• Act as a subject matter expert in product design, offering insights and recommendations to enhance the overall user experience.

• Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and guidance to improve design quality and effectiveness.

• Undertaking research activities to understand user needs and behaviors.

• Present designs and prototypes to stakeholders for feedback and approval.

• Use user feedback to iteratively improve and refine the product's design and functionality.

• Responsible for the design and development of user interfaces.

• Design layouts, including selection of colors, images, typography and iconography.

• Create responsive designs for multiple contexts and devices (e.g., desktop, mobile, tablet).

• Collaborate closely with developers to ensure designs are feasible and implemented as intended.

• Prototype interface solutions for review, testing and handoff.

• Understand the brand, marketing initiatives, and target audience.

• Identify target user groups and carry out interviews or other types of inquiry to help understand user needs.

• Ensure the creation and implementation of customized experiences.

• Produce high-quality solutions through flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps and prototyping

• Proficient in design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, FIGMA).

• Evaluating ease of use, utility, efficiency in performing tasks, etc.

• Translates low fidelity wireframes and business requirements into features and functionality for web/mobile experiences.

• Develops high‐fidelity wireframes and prototypes to effectively conceptualize and communicate high‐level design strategies.

• Responsible to determine solutions to user interface challenges.

• Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or a related field of study; and

2. Five (5) years of progressive, responsible experience in the field of data processing, computer systems and applications.

Operations Specialty requires supervisory experience (5 years).

Network Services requires a telecommunications background and experience.

3. Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques; or

4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Department Preferences

• EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design, Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Graphic Design
• COMPUTER PROGRAMS/SOFTWARE OPERATED:Advanced proficiency with FIGMA, Adobe Creative Suit, HTML, CSS
• Five to eight years as a UI/UX/Product Design lead/ professional
• Portfolio/samples required
• In depth working knowledge and experience with UI/UX concepts
• Have in‐depth knowledge of graphics creation
• Knowledge of user research methodologies to gather insights about user needs and preferences
• Wireframe, prototype, and validate work using Adobe Creative Suite and FIGMA
• A passion for solving problems and making things that people will love to use
• Can work in a team and independently to develop and resolve interface challenges, enhancements and fixes on tight timelines Have technical and analytical skills
• An understanding of user-centered design principles, Customer Journey Mapping, Persona Development
• Strong facilitation skills
• A basic understanding of coding languages like HTML and CSS
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Highly organized with an obsessive eye towards details.
• Demonstrates initiative and can self-manage domain specific work.
• Strong project/process management skills and committed to continuously improve quality and effectiveness of own work.
