    Title: Custodial & Maintenance Manager (Full time, year-round position)
    Reports to: Director of Operations
    Work Days/Hours: 40 hours a week
    Education Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent
    Experience Required: Minimum of one (1) years of custodial work experience, ability and willingness to perform the work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
    Hourly rate: $20/hr

    Job Summary:
    Under supervision of the Director of Operations, performs extensive cleaning and professional custodial duties in the maintenance of the interior and exterior of Daystar Academy, and performs related duties as required.

    All Staff Responsibilities:
    • Provide a safe school environment, indoors and out, per directives regarding building operations (keys, fobs, alarm codes),
    • Fulfill essential job functions based on ones specific job description; and during times of school drills or emergencies, assist others as able.
    • Be on time, appropriately dressed and ready for work at assigned days/times.
    • Adhere to all of the requirements outlined in the Staff Handbook.
    • Build a sense of trust in the school by fostering a respectful, cordial, and professional relationship with staff and students.
    • Respect all school procedures and organizational structure.
    • Commitment to Daystars Statement of and working at a Christian school.

    Essential Job Functions Relative to Role as Custodial Worker:
    • Cleans, sweeps, mops and scrubs floors inside and outside of classrooms, offices, stairways, corridors, and lobbies nightly.
    • Vacuums and semi-annual shampoos all carpeted areas with vacuum equipment.
    • Cleans and disinfects lavatory areas including sinks, showers, urinals and toilets using appropriate disinfectants and chemical solutions.
    • Refills toilet paper, hand soap and paper towel dispensers in lavatories, classrooms and common rooms.
    • Cleans, dusts, and polishes all types of surfaces and furniture, classrooms, offices, and all other areas of the school building.
    • Empties waste baskets and other refuse containers to dispose of trash.
    • Lifts and moves furniture, office equipment and draperies for cleaning and/or relocation.
    • Places boxes and equipment in storage areas.
    • Shovels snow and spreads salt either manually or with snow removal equipment.
    • Cleans and stores equipment and supplies after each use.
    • Removes litter and debris from building doors and property grounds. Keeps gangway on northside of the building clear for emergency exits.
    • Outdoor-spring mulching of planting beds, weed and trim plant materials
    • Removes graffiti markings from walls and other surfaces.
    • Sets up tables and chairs in Gathering Place (school auditorium) weekly for chapel and other events as needed.
    • Cleans windows monthly.
    • Acts as the liaison for pest control by greeting and meeting technician and keeps a schedule.
    • Manages fire extinguishers, annual fire tests, fire pump station test and fire drills under the direction of the Director of Operations
    • Works with other vendors for building needs; such as electrician and HVAC professionals.
    • Manage and work with on-site maintenance help.
    • Fix minor repairs or replacements as needed.
    • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds,and stairs.
    • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 50 pounds regularly.
    • Reports on supply usage at intervals determined by the Director of Operations, and identifies and requests in a timely manner from appropriate school personnel the necessary custodial supplies in order to perform duties.
    • Complete other duties as assigned by the Head of School or Head of School's Delegate.
