NW Indiana based steel fabricator seeking a Maintenance Manager.


Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years experience managing a maintenance department.

Minimum of 5 years experience overseeing 10 employees in maintenance.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in planning maintenance operations and developing preventative maintenance programs.

Solid understanding of technical aspects of mechanical, CNC, crane repair, electrical systems, blast machines, etc.

Working knowledge of 110, 220, & 440 Electrical

Working knowledge of hydraulics

Working knowledge of facility machines and equipment

Ability to keep track of and report on activity

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities

High school diploma or equivalent; Degree from a vocational school or college will be an advantage. Experience in the steel industry is a plus.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a Preventative Maintenance and record keeping system.
  • Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation.
  • Carry out facility inspections to identify and resolve issues.
  • Manage and schedule maintenance staff to ensure adequate coverage of the facility and timely repairs according to priority and in accordance with our safety rules.
  • Work with production management to develop a Preventative Maintenance schedule that reduces unplanned production delays due to breakdowns.
  • Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities
  • Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary
  • Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
  • Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies

Physical Requirements:


  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc.
  • Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from positiontoposition.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, sometimes in a loud shop environment.
  • Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operates machines, such as lathes, drill presses, power saws, and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performs mechanical or skilled trade tasks of a nonrepetitive nature, such as carpenter, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
  • Able to work in changing environmental conditions, such as hot or cold weather, precipitation.
  • Exposure to loud noise.
  • Working in proximity to physical to hazards, such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Subject to exposure to atmospheric conditions. May include hazardous chemicals, flammable liquids, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.

Pay:
$85, $95,000.00 per year
