Duties:

This position is located in the Public Buildings Service, Facilities Management & Services Programs Division.

This division oversees regional programs related to the management and operation of space under the jurisdiction, custody, or control of the Public Buildings Service (PBS), both federally-owned and leased.

This position has job functions that must be executed within specific geographic locations.

The official duty station is a federal facility, leased space, or an alternative worksite (typically the employee's home) within the specified geographic area.

Paul, MN. If you are selected for this position, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement within 45 days.

At that time, you may be eligible to request to telework one or more days a pay period depending upon the terms of the agency's telework policy.


Examples of duties include:

  • In ongoing analysis of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) program's functionality and effectiveness, incumbent identifies, analyzes, researches, and resolves compatibility issues and similar problems associated with (CMMS) products, as well as the most complex and plaguing problems as indicated by users throughout the region. Serves as the troubleshooter to craft unique solutions to system problems by ensuring the (CMMS) program and supporting hardware and software are established and maintained as userfriendly tools for both management and service employees. Evaluates all technical aspects of (CMMS) operations and makes determinations for changes needed to improve database manipulation, maintenance, enhancements, and other key systemrelated issues. Recommends additional programming and/or purchase of new software, hardware equipment changes and how best to integrate new technology and design/facilities management capabilities. Provides both technical and strategic expertise on the (CMMS) program, technology and system issues, and compatibility with ongoing General Services Administration (GSA) and internal client needs.
  • Applies a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to assess and improve (CMMS) program effectiveness. Reviews specific goals and objectives; monitors the sequence and timing of key program events and milestones and evaluates overall program accomplishment and significant contributions in terms of regional or headquarter goals. Provides input and recommendations regarding projected operations, significant trends, recurring problems and similar management level concerns to organization(s) impacted.
  • Supports and trains endusers across the Great Lakes Region. Prepares pilot/project plans and schedules in support of implementation, training, and support. Conducts crossregion technical support and user group briefings, meetings and conferences to exchange information, to keep users and Public Buildings Service (PBS) managers informed of new developments, to coordinate work and project activities and service requests and to resolve recurring problems. Identifies personnel and advises Public Buildings Service (PBS) program managers of those employees who would benefit most from particular training courses. Disseminates technical training information to all components of Public Buildings Services (PBS) if necessary. Prepares and/or presents training in a classroom setting.
  • Interprets regional policy and other operating guidelines, provides expert advice and guidance to regional/headquarters personnel on (CMMS), and on preventative maintenance software and software/data integration. Coordinates with other regions and Public Buildings Services (PBS) components to assure conformity of procedures and interpretations in resolving issues related to the administration of the (CMMS) program. Prepares highly technical reports and/or papers on important matters that have broad impact on the CMMS program.
