    The role, in brief:
    Venn Plus is looking for a talented, experienced, and dynamic Senior Accountant to service multiple Government Contractor entities. The Senior Accountant will play a vital role in the organization by recording and maintaining financial records.

    This position is responsible for a broad understanding of accounting methods, principles, and practices with the ability to recognize and resolve discrepancies with limited direction.

    The is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and standards of the position. Incumbents will follow any other instructions, and perform any other related duties, as assigned by their supervisor.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Maintains and controls the General Ledger accounts – with a strong understanding of cost accounting and how A/P and A/R impact the general ledger.
    • Update customer & vendor accounts with contact information and maintain Vendor W9 files and assist with annual 1099 filing.
    • Process payroll and benefits for multiple entities.
    • Responsible for ensuring timely, accurate data entry into the accounting system.
    • Examines accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance with department standards.
    • Month end close and financial statement review.
    • Works with Controller and other members of the Finance/Accounting Team to produce and review financial statements.
    • Conduct and/or review monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations for multiple companies.
    • Perform year-end accrual review and process financial reports for tax preparers.
    • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues for the Accounting Department.
    • Maintains bank account and entity tracking, loan documents, and amortization schedules.
    • Budget creation, cash flow forecasting.
    • Assist with ICS creation, submissions, and audits.
    • Support with all pre-award surveys and annual audits, such as DCAA, 401(k) and year end financials.
    • Document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

    The qualifications outlined below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities that distinguish an ideal candidate:


    • Degree in accounting or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
    • DOD Accounting and government contract experience is ideal.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook required.
    • Unanet, CostPoint and QuickBooks experience a plus.
    • Knowledge of GSA Per Diem rates a plus.
    • Experience with Sales and Use Tax across multiple states.
    • Notary Public a plus.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must possess exceptional critical thinking skills, be well-organized, and detail oriented.
    • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to plan, create and implement accounting databases for new business a plus.
    • Ability to read and analyze financial reports.
    • Ability to adapt quickly to an ever-changing environment with evolving demands.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision, a self-starter attitude is a plus.

    Language Abilities:

    • Comprehension and Communication: Read, analyze, and interpret documents including business, professional, technical, or governmental texts.
    • Writing Skills: Capable of writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    • Presentation Skills: Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the public.

    Mathematical Abilities:

    • Calculation Skills: Compute figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, as well as area, circumference, and volume.
    • Mathematical Concepts: Apply basic algebra and geometry in practical situations.

    Reasoning Abilities:

    • Problem Solving: Solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
    • Interpretation Skills: Interpret various instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.

    Computer Skills:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Experience with Accounting Software

    Certificates and Licenses:

    • Unanet Certification a plus
    • QuickBooks ProAdvisor a plus

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment:

    Physical Demands:

    • Lifting: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs

    The salary range for this position at Venn Plus is

    $60,000 - $70,000.


    The base pay salary is a calculated industry-based estimate and is what the Venn Plus may pay for anyone seated in this position throughout their tenure at our company.

    range is based on a number of factors including but not limited to market location, job-related knowledge, education or training, skills, and years and types of experience.
