Job Description:
Funded in part by a grant from the Apgar Foundation, this position will make possible the enhancement of the curriculum in Honors and the development of a new required course, "The Great Conversation," thereby expanding learning opportunities for LSU Honors undergraduates.
Participating in research through the Voegelin Institute will contribute to the experience of graduate students and faculty who themselves participate in the institute programs.
Moreover, by launching an academic career from LSU, the young scholar will further develop the international reputation of LSU in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
Job Responsibilities:
Teach four courses per academic year, as assigned by the Dean of the Ogden Honors College. 40%
Conduct advanced research in one's field of study, including preparation of manuscripts for publication by a university press or by scholarly journals; make one research presentation per year in an appropriate venue at LSU; attend scholarly conferences and engage in other academic exchange as appropriate in one's field; attend occasional events sponsored by the Voegelin Institute.
Participate in course and curriculum design at the Honors College; attend the workshop on teaching great books, making an occasional presentation as appropriate; advise students doing independent study as appropriate; attend events at the Honors College as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.
D in Political Science, History, Philosophy, Literature, Classics, or other related field.
Preferred Qualifications:

D.
with some experience teaching undergraduate students; particularly courses that include study of the classic texts in one's field of study.
