SUMMARY

Medical assistant role will providephysician support services that ensure that the healthcare facility runssmoothly. They are responsible for administrative as well as clinical tasks,such as maintaining patient records, preparing patients and rooms forexamination, assisting physicians with exams, and performing front-desktasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·Work in PHNE's detox and residential programs

·Track referrals for the medical services team

·Schedule and maintain list of patients to be seen by the medicalteam

·Review and confirm relevant medical data as part of the triageprocess

·Efficiently manage patient flow for medical team

·Room patients

·Disinfect clinical areas before and after all clinical encounters

·Obtain and document patient vital signs

·Communicate concerning findings, signs or symptoms to programnurses and/or medical providers

·Initiate patient encounters on electronic medical records

·Track orders and results generated during medical visits

·Arrange/coordinate internal and outside referrals as needed

·Communicate with medical, nursing and clinical staff to facilitatecoordination of care

·Call pharmacies and outside providers as needed

·Help organize and maintain patients' paper records

·Coordinate and track medication prior authorizations

·Perform Oral Swab, Urine Drug testing and breathalyzer testing

·Phlebotomy (not required at this time but may be at some time inthe further)

·Help educate patients about use of medication assisted treatment

·Help educate patients about overdose prevention

·Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

·High school diploma or GED required;

·completion of an accredited medical assistance certificationprogram preferred

·Proficiency with EMRs

·Primary Care Experience a plus

·Addiction Medicine experience and/or interest preferred

·Behavioral Health experience and/or interest preferred

·Underserved Healthcare experience and/or interest a plus

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

·Medical Assistant certification

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

·Medical fluency

·EMR and other technological fluency (email, word, phone systems)

·Perform Vital signs

·Perform clinically validated substance withdrawal assessments

·Bilingual preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

POSITION TYPE :

SCHEDULING NEEDS:Monday - Friday, may require nights,weekends, and holidays as needed.

TRAVEL:This position may require travel by car within the NewEngland Region
