The Mechanical Design Engineer position is responsible for developing a variety of HVAC&R product designs for both commercial and defense markets including heat exchangers, air conditioning, refrigeration, and air handling systems.
This position will be responsible for designing new products using 2D and 3D CAD; and supporting product testing, qualification, and production.
Mechanical design and drafting using 2D and 3D modeling software, primarily AutoCAD and PTC CreoDesign of mechanical equipment, especially heat exchangers, air conditioning, refrigeration and air handling systems
Develop manufacturing drawings, bills of material and associated supporting documentation for fabrication and delivery of products and prototypes
Introductory level engineering of HVAC&R equipment for component sizing, selection, and performance prediction
Support testing, qualification, documentation and analysis of prototypes, products, systems, or subsystems
Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
Work with manufacturing and cross functional teams to achieve project cost and manufacturing efficiency goals
Responsible for completion of projects on time, within budget and following design specifications
Ability to work independently under supervision of others while regular reporting of progress and status
Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for status of project assignments
Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
Hands-on support of prototype fabrication, assembly, and test
Liaison engineering support of manufacturing operations
attending educational workshops; Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field with 5-plus years experience
Experience designing mechanical components and equipment, preferably HVAC&R (air conditioning, air handling and refrigeration) equipment, including sheet metal parts, welded structures and machined components
100 and associated documentation such as bill of materials
Experience designing and drafting with 2D CAD and 3D solid modeling software
Competency with MS Office software tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Comfortable and competent writing and creating technical documentation
Experience modeling, designing, and drafting with PTC CREO including assembly and sheet metal functionality
Experience drafting with AutoCAD Mechanical 2D
