    Are you passionate about cutting-edge materials research and development? Ultramet, a leader in the use of advanced materials in the aerospace and defense industries, is seeking a talented Materials Engineer to support current and future research programs. As a Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for writing research proposals, managing resulting programs, and marketing technology at trade shows and conferences.

    The successful candidate will be able to champion new ideas for cutting-edge technologies. You will have experience in running research programs, proposal writing, and/or program management. You will manage multiple programs simultaneously, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery. You will provide technical support to other programs at Ultramet, present technical information, and write papers for conferences and trade shows.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Write proposals to secure funding for research and development from government agencies, outside firms, or Ultramet for internal research and development.
    • Manage the technical efforts of programs to achieve technical objectives using sound engineering principles and creativity.
    • Perform data analyses to support research, development, and production programs.
    • Provide technical support to other programs at Ultramet.
    • Make presentations and market Ultramet technologies at conferences, trade shows, and customer facilities.
    • Write progress reports, final reports, closeout briefings, etc.

    KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Candidates should have a degree in Materials Science and Engineering with a focus in Ceramics and/or Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Bachelor's degree holders must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant industrial experience.
    • Master's degree holders must have a minimum of 1 year of relevant industrial experience.
    • PhD holders are not required to have additional experience.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to travel to conferences and trade shows two or more times per year.
    • U.S. citizenship is required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience with materials for extreme environments and their application in areas such as hypersonics, rocket propulsion, turbine engines, and nuclear power.
    • Experience with chemical vapor deposition of structural materials.
    • Familiarity with materials testing, characterization, and analysis techniques.
    • Experience with finite element modeling using either COMSOL or ANSYS.
    • Proficiency in computer software and tools commonly used in materials engineering, such as MATLAB, Python, and SolidWorks.

    BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION:

    • Ultramet offers an attractive benefits program, including medical and dental coverage, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, a competitive salary structure, and a generous vacation and holiday program.

    Pay Range:

    • $76,000-$130,000 - Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidates' knowledge, skills, experience, qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
