    Job Description

    Senior Research Specialist. This is a full-time position in the Division of Plant Science & Technology, CAFNR, University of Missouri.

    The position, which is part of the Missouri Grape and Wine Institute (GWI) is located on the MU campus in Columbia, MO.

    The GWI is seeking an individual with a vast scope of whole-plant and plant pathology experience to join our viticulture Extension program.

    The successful candidate will work closely with the Missouri grape and wine industry to support the industry's educational and research needs.

    The educational needs may encompass vineyard site selection, production practices, nutrient and water management and the identification and management of major diseases and pests.

    The successful candidate will also undertake applied research projects that support extension education that propels forward the growth and prosperity of the Missouri grape and wine industry.

    Research may include grapevine viruses, insect vectors, fungal endophytes, and grapevine trunk diseases.

    The senior research specialist will collaborate with other members of GWI to plan research projects that have applied deliverables to the Missouri grape industry.

    The successful candidate is expected to perform educational extension programming, develop curricula, publications, and presentations, collaborate with stakeholders, state agencies, and internal and external collaborators as well as play an active role in helping secure extramural funding.

    Senior Research Specialist. This is a full-time position in the Division of Plant Science & Technology, CAFNR, University of Missouri.

    Shift

    Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master's degree in viticulture, plant sciences, horticulture, plant pathology, soil sciences, agronomy, or related field. Candidates should be highly effective in both written and oral communication.

    Additionally, candidates should possess the ability to effectively teach, ability to interact with others, ability to build professional relationships and work independently as well as in a team environment.

    Candidate must have a valid driver's license.

    Anticipated Hiring Range


    Salary Range:
    $51,875 to $81,744 annually.
