    MISSION STATEMENT

    Homeboy Industries provides hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and recently incarcerated men and women, allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community.

    Job Title: Staff Accountant

    Reports To: Director of Finance

    Salary: $65,000-$75,000

    SUMMARY

    As Staff Accountant you will apply accounting and finance principles to assist with financial reporting and government grant fund accounting. We are seeking an analytical and team-oriented accountant who will work on tracking all government grants, participating in the proposal process, expense coding, and invoicing.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Assist with month end journal entries in accordance with US GAAP
    • Read government grant agreements and contracts with understanding of allowable expenses and invoicing guidelines
    • Ensure proper coding of grant expenses and work with programs to understand allowable expenses
    • Assist with tracking timesheets for personnel involved with grants
    • Create and issue invoices accurately based on grant agreement and ensure timely collection
    • Assists in the management of the credit card program
    • Prepare bank account reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations as required
    • Assists in the maintenance of the General Ledger
    • Participate in the financial audit and preparation of required audit support schedules
    • Participate in cross training of other roles and responsibilities across the accounting team
    • Develop ad-hoc reports and analysis for cross-functional teams and management as requested
    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Ability to build relationships with internal departments and external parties
    • Experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds
    • Detail oriented and organized
    • Strong ethical and moral fortitude
    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
    • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • Non-profit experience
    • 2 or more years of accounting experience
    • Experience with government grants and fund accounting
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
