The Assistant Chief ofSecurity is responsible for assisting with the overall securityplan and the security operations of the juvenile or adult facility,including staffing and post assignments. Promotes compliance with all applicable policies,procedures, rules, regulations andstandards.

Supervise theenforcement of applicable corporate and facility policies,procedures, rules, regulations and standards for thefacility.
Directly or throughsubordinate supervisors, assign, train, supervise and evaluate thework of staff who provide security and security-related functionsat the facility; interview and recommend applicants for employment;and review and/or make decisions on personnel actions, asappropriate.
Communicate effectivelyand coherently to administration, staff, inmates/residents,contracting agency, local governmental law enforcement agencies,visitors, the general public and other related entities,particularly in situations requiring tact, diplomacy,understanding, fairness, firmness and goodjudgment. This includes interviewingapplicants, giving information, instructions and directions,mediating disputes, advising of rights and processes, and providingreliable testimony in court and other formalsettings.
Prepare or direct thepreparation of shift logs, disciplinary reports, attendancerecords, incident reports, administrative disciplinary decisions,inmate/resident cell assignments and other administrative reportsand records, using appropriate grammar, to include filing,alphabetizing andlabeling.

Qualifications:

Graduate from an accredited college or university witha bachelor's degree in a social or behavioral science or otheracceptable relatedfield.
Four years professional correctional work experience which includestwo years in a supervisory capacitypreferred.
Qualifying full-time professionalcorrectional experience may be substituted for the requirededucation on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of fouryears.
Must demonstrate a knowledge of correctional custodymethods and techniques, pertinent facility rules, regulations andstandards, practices and principles of supervision and training andpractices and principles ofmanagement.
Avalid driver's license isrequired.
Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years ofage.
