Principal Training & Development Specialist (Battle Master Controller).

WHAT YOU WILL DO:


The AVCATT Battle Master Controller (BMC) is capable of inputting, monitoring and controlling all parameters of the training exercise, including Semi-Automated Forces (SAF) and Role Player (RP) functions utilizing the BMC control workstation.

The BMC possess the ability to alter loaded Initial Conditions (IC) during the exercise that will match increasing aircrew expertise.

The BMC provides guidance for the unit's pre-mission familization training, enters and completes the Aviation Mission Planning System (AMPS) data, performs Role Player (RP) functions as required, and assists the SAF, Operator Controller (OC) and RPs during exercise execution by creating, controlling and modifying force structure, damage levels, weapon system parameters, composition, route of travel, Rules of Engagement (ROE), speed, actions, and levels of lethality for both friendly and opposing forces.

The BMC is also the AVCATT Site Manager and as such, is responsible for all administrative and supervisory functions related to facility operations.

  • Works with senior level personnel and business units/technical areas to conduct assessments to ensure training needs are met.
  • Operates BMC control station and related exercise control systems IAW current and applicable military doctrine.
  • Develops and manages device training calendar by working closely with unit planners to assist and/or input training requests into the Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS).
  • Submits funding/travel requests to Phoenix Defense associated with assigned Range Control Number Identifier (RCNI).
  • Serves as company representative for all direct coordination with TOR and ensures site personnel comply with program, company and government policies and procedures.
  • Generates and controls Battle Master and After-Action Review consoles, inputs semiautomated exercise tactical entities to meet military instructors, observer controllers, and unit commanders training intent. Programs BMC controller radios frequencies, weapons configurations, navigation waypoints, target coordinates, and weather environmental parameters. Loads and verifies correct missions Initial Conditions (IC) defaults prior to initialization of flight modes.
  • Plans and establishes work and training schedules. Ensures training resources are available for training and conducts or assists in briefings.
  • Coordinates and assists in training exercise development with supported units.
  • Advises and provides guidance to exercise participants manning the role player stations.
  • Develops and manages electronic files containing overlays, scenarios, and user provided portable AMPS flight planning software files used during current and future training iterations.
  • Catalogs, maintains, and transfers mission files between external training devices and AVCATT.
  • Understands and applies realistic semiautomated forces not limited to; infantry fighting vehicles, armor, infantry troops, artillery, rotary and fixed wing, combat service support elements, air defense systems during day and night military training exercises.
  • Verifies navigational points using both Military Grid Reference (MGR) System and Long/Lat coordinates.
  • Must be able to communicate using FM, UHF, VHF and HF tactical radios in plain and secure modes.
  • Supports aviation training exercises in preparation for actual reallife deployments.
  • Must be able to communicate with US Army flight crews and act as a crew chief if necessary to compliment air assault, sling loads and medevac operations.
  • Monitors flight modules and generates calls for maintenance to the AVCATT Technician.
  • Operates Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) with mission parameters established for each training iteration.
  • Operates playback of tactical map display, sensor video, META-VR stealth, and automated recordings at the discretion of the instructors and evaluators.
  • Must be able to perform orderly initialization and shutdown of the AVCATT ONESAF Host computer and IC suites.
