    Description

    The following outlines the skills needed to address our customer's current operational challenges in a Linux Systems, Oracle Database environment and is crucial for helping our customer to overcome existing roadblocks. A background in legacy systems is required for this role.

    The goal of this position is to bolster Linux capabilities to navigate deficiencies and enhance backup and disaster recovery mechanisms.

    This is an onsite position, that can progress into hybrid potential, with the ideal contractor on-call to immediately report to the office and address operational deficiencies.

    Responsibilities:

    Your contributions in managing FTP and Image Server projects and maintaining Linux servers and Oracle databases are crucial in ensuring seamless operations and enhancing data security for our clients.

    Non negotiables:

    • Deep Understanding of Foundational Concepts: Thorough understanding of foundational concepts and principles with legacy systems.
    • Problem-Solving Skills: Experience with legacy systems and demonstrated problem-solving skills, resolving intricate issues, and finding creative solutions within constrained environments.
    • Risk Management and Maintenance: experience in maintaining and supporting legacy systems, adept at implementing effective maintenance practices to ensure system reliability and stability.
    • Transition and Migration Expertise: Proven experience in system transitions, data migrations, and legacy system decommissioning, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition process.
    • Compliance and Regulation: You are well-versed in compliance standards and understand the importance of adhering to regulatory requirements, contributing to a secure and compliant operational environment.

    Requirements (3+ Years in an Enterprise Setting):

    Linux Skills:

    • General Linux knowledge for configuration and administration.
    • Software installation and OS patching.
    • User management and security protocols.
    • Experience with vi/vim editor, bash/ksh scripting, rsync, grep, sed, and networking tools like DNS and traceroute.
    • Familiarity with FTP server (pure-ftpd), SSH, Nginx web server, and Samba for Windows server communication.
    • Experience with Oracle databases.
    • Familiarity with Azure is a plus.

    Workload Expectations:

    • Anticipate a front-loaded workload during project implementation/ramp, transitioning to maintenance and fortification post-implementation.
