    Security Guard with Security Clearance - Fort Liberty, United States - Department of Defense

    Description
    Duties * Patrolling facilities and/or restricting individual's access to locations. * Secure found drugs, weapons, and contraband. * Perform random spot checks for compliance with key control, supply, property and vehicle security regulations and directives. * Respond and react appropriately to hostage situations and abductions, which involves exercising situational judgment. * Verifying authentication of badges, registrations, or property passes of staff and visitors.

    Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

    * This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

    * This position requires incumbent to complete a pre-employment physical, physical agility, and psychological examinations and annual thereafter to ensure the required level of physical health and ability to perform the duties of the position.

    * This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

    * This position is subject to the Lautenberg amendment to the gun control act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.

    * Shift work is required in this position as well as work on weekends and holidays. In the event of an emergency (e.g. inclement weather, disaster coverage, etc.), employee may be required to report for duty outside of scheduled shift. * Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. * Incumbent must not have any criminal convictions, nor receive any while employed in this position.

    * This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).

    * Incumbent will be required to wear a uniform.

    * This position requires incumbent to be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and must know first aid.

    * This position may require incumbent to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment and a uniform. Incumbent must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments. * This position has been designated Mission Essential.

    In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

    * This position has the following medical requirements; good near and distant vision, ability to distinguish basic colors, and ability to hear the conversational voice.

    * This position is under the Federal Motor Operations medical requirement specified in 5 Code of Federal Regulations Section 930 Part 109; persons operating a Government owned or leased vehicle are subject to medical testing once every 4 years.

    * This position may require a character investigation to secure incumbent's honesty, integrity, general character, and loyalty to the U.S.

    Government. * Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training. * This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing. * Incumbent is required to be screened for applicable immunizations and subject to missing/required immunizations.

    Specialized Experience:

    One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience with working in a Federal, State, municipal, local or private organization that involves the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass.

    Maintaining order by patrolling perimeters, protecting life, writing and reviewing incident reports and responding to emergency situations and security breaches.

    Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to veterans' preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment.

    Grade Requirement:

    Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

    Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

    For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
