    Security Specialist with Security Clearance - Fort Liberty, United States - Department of the Army

    Description

    Duties * Serve as Special Security Officer (SSO) with responsibility for development, implementation, and management of Sensitive Compartmented Information programs and multiple facilities for the U.

    S. Army 1st Special Forces Command Airborne (1st SFC (A)).

    * Exercise Senior Intelligence Officer (SIO) cognizance over the Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) activities of 1st SFC (A) Subordinate Units consisting of approximately 1100 SCI billets.

    * Work assignments include involvement in Personnel Security, Industrial Security, Information Operations, Communications Security, Foreign Disclosure Officer (FDO), and Physical Security.

    * Serve as the official channel for passing SCI access certifications.

    * Maintain contact with high-ranking staff members, visitors, security specialists, and members of the national intelligence community to provide advice and guidance on regulations or discuss non-routine issues regarding SSO matters.

    * Manage, oversee, and provide SCI support to DoD SCI contractors, including processing, review, and approval of DD Forms 254 (Contract Security Classification Specification), and to Special Access Programs (SAP).

    * Manage SCIF physical security IAW IC Tech Spec for ICD/ICS 705 and AR * As a Foreign Disclosure Officer, coordinates routine disclosure actions for the disclosure of Classified Military Information (CMI) to foreign government representatives in support of approved U.S.

    Army international programs.

    Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

    * Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

    * In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.

    * Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI) based on a Tier 5 investigation/single-scope background investigation (SSBI).

    * May require temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of time. * Periodically, especially during periods of crisis, will be required to work overtime/irregular shifts. * This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program.     Specialized experience is defined as:
    1. Processing requests for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access. AND 2. Experience with the receipt, control, safeguarding, and accountability of SCI products. AND 3. Experience performing duties associated with the management of SCI Facility (SCIF). 4.

    Experience assisting in the performance of Foreign Disclosure Officer duties, such as, foreign visit requests and the disclosure of Classified Military Information (CMI) to foreign government representatives.

    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service.

    (GG/GS-11). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled.

    Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.

    The SPeD certification is DoD's initiative to professionalize the security workforce by establishing a common set of competencies for security practitioners that promotes interoperability, facilitates professional development and training, and develops a workforce of certified security professionals.

    This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification:

    Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment and the Physical Security Certification (PSC) within the next two years.

    Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
