    Description

    Cox Consulting Network is currently working with a high-net-worth family office in its search for an Accountant. The Accountant will be a valued member of the accounting team and will work directly with the Accounting Director and CFO. The position is in-office (with professional flexibility) in Houston, Texas.

    Reporting directly to the Accounting Director, the Accountant takes an active role in efficiently producing financial information that is accurate and relevant for decision making, ensuring the timely delivery of analysis reports, in addition to understanding accounting concepts and principles related to our core businesses and entity structure. This role is essential to the core financial systems, policies and procedures.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Accounting

    • Ensures accounting information is provided accurately, timely, and in meaningful ways to the shareholders
    • Performs monthly accounting close, including recording monthly journal entries and reconciliations in accordance with GAAP
    • Maintains and analyzes information across many different entities
    • Tracks and verifies of securities transaction confirmations
    • Exercises full compliance with JADEC's standards and constantly works to strengthen JADEC's control environment
    • Understands and identifies opportunities for improvement, develops recommendations, and implements solutions to processes
    • Liaise with investments analyst to identify, understand, and correct investment performance reporting anomalies

    Budgeting and Reporting

    • Supports the preparation of various reports and analyses
    • Assists with development of relevant dashboards highlighting key metrics, trends and drivers of results

    Compliance

    • Serves as point person for gathering internal data required for IRS and regulatory filings


    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree or higher degree
    • Minimum 2 years work experience
    • CPA certification or in process of passing CPA exam
    • Solid understanding of US GAAP, accounting processes and controls
    • Experience and strong grasp of accounting for marketable securities a plus
    • Trust accounting and knowledge of rules and regulations for charitable foundations, a plus
    • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
    • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, board members and external partners
    • Expert level written and verbal communication skills
    • Knowledge of financial, legal and technology concepts
    • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability
    • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
    • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response
    • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals
    • Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions
    • High Proficiency in MS Office
