    MANAGEMENT ANALYST (FINANCE DEPARTMENT)

    The Village of Northbrook's Finance Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Management Analyst.

    Under the direction of the CFO, Deputy CFO, and Accounting Manager, this full-time position will be responsible for professional oversight, financial analysis, grant management, expenditure/revenue tracking, and serving as the backup for critical functions within the Finance Department.

    This position is ideal for the individual having a strong interest in municipal finance, the drive and desire to learn as well as gain well-rounded and comprehensive experience in the field of municipal finance leading to opportunities for future advancement in local government.


    Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    Analyze financial report details from the Village's ERP/Accounting System (BS&A)
    Assist with the preparation of year-end audit workpapers
    Track local tax submittals and payments with delinquent businesses or individuals
    Assist with updating tax incentive worksheets and evaluating data
    Take a key role in developing the annual capital improvement plan and operating budget
    Serve as the primary backup for the payroll function, including timesheet review and processing semi-monthly payrolls
    Serve as backup for approving purchase orders and invoices
    Serve as backup for the monthly financial close process, including bank reconciliations and journal entries
    Assist CFO with tracking eligible expenditures related to the tax increment financial districts
    Work with Accounting Manager in reviewing the semi-monthly warrant list (accounts payable)
    Assist customers with inquires or issues related to online payments
    Prepare RFPs and evaluate proposals
    Assist with tracking grant-related transactions and the preparation of Single Audit workpapers in applicable years
    Conduct financial related surveys with other Chicago-area communities

    Other duties as assigned based on the needs of the Finance Department, as this list is not intended to be all-encompassing.


    Qualifications :

    Minimum requirements include Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or a related field, with at least two to three years of experience working in a municipal setting in any role or capacity.

    The successful candidate must demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and ERP system is required. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to establish effective working relationships with other operating departments, staff and public.

    The approved pay range for this position is $60,000-$93,500 with a target hiring starting salary between $73,000-$79,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

    The Village also offers a comprehensive benefits package, which includes pension (IMRF), health & dental Insurance, life insurance and generous leave benefits.

    The work schedule is primarily Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
